Bring Your Passion Product Content Strategy Lead Job Description

Thomson Reuters is hiring for a Product Content Strategy Lead to define and drive the future vision of product content in the Tax and Accounting Professionals Division.

In this role, you will establish the discipline of UX writing. The discipline is responsible for shaping the voice, tone, and meaning around product UI experiences. In addition, you will be focused on delivering cohesive product narratives across multiple platforms and touchpoints and creating technical documentation that helps users complete the task at hand.

This position requires a deep understanding of the role language plays in the UX design process and requires the regular use of empathy, logic, and hard data to inform content choices. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to establish the discipline of UX writing for the next generation of products and services while creating processes and standards for maintaining high-quality content in our current offerings.

As a leader in Product Management, you’ll focus on performance and impact by building a healthy and collaborative team, providing opportunities for them to reach their potential and develop their skills and careers. You’ll influence using storytelling and solve problems using systems thinking. You and your team will work on a variety of high-impact projects and collaborate cross-functionally with team members from Design, Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success.

Responsibilities

  • Establish the discipline of UX writing at Thomson Reuters
  • Define best practices for user interface writing and content strategy principles that establish the quality bar.
  • Establish content style guidelines and quality standards, including resources to communicate them to the broader team
  • Evolve editorial and voice and tone standards across products
  • Define and implement information architecture and navigation systems across complex products
  • Drive a vision for content strategy for legacy and next-generation products connecting user needs with business goals and design direction.
  • Develop and lead a team of writers with diverse skills and creative and holistic thinking across product releases and platforms.
  • Manage the team’s operations, including developing new processes and workflows to increase efficiency, driving quality standards and successfully balancing workloads.
  • Manage the team’s tactical execution to drive cohesive product narratives across all digital touchpoints within the product.
  • Collaborate with leaders in Design, Product Management, Marketing, Engineering, and Customer Success to define requirements and manage projects and stakeholders.
  • Offer a UX writing perspective throughout the product development process, and influence strategic decisions across and within products to improve the overall experience and ensure consistency across platforms
  • Use qualitative and quantitative research to inform your content decisions. Including, developing an understanding of how our customers use the products by partnering with UX Researchers to observe and conduct user testing.
  • Empower other teams to write their own great content as needed

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience managing or leading teams (hiring, managing, mentoring, and training teams)
  • 5+ years of experience in content strategy or UX/UI writing experience in a product-focused environment
  • Background working with cross-functional teams including design, product management, and engineering
  • BA in Technical Communications, Computer Science, or related technical/comms field
  • Portfolio of UX-focused writing samples and style guidelines for web and mobile applications
  • Ability to learn new technical skills, products, and applications quickly
  • Excellent writing, editing and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Fluency in user experience design principles and how to apply them
  • Research experience including testing content on real users and iterating as well as the use of data analytics to inform content decisions and experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, implement, and maintain content standards across an organization
  • Ability to work independently in a highly dynamic, rapidly changing environment and collaborate successfully with senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners
