Selby Jennings is working with one of the most talked about start-ups in Texas. This is a venture-backed start-up that prioritizes social and environmental good through blockchain technology. They are looking for a Scala Engineer to join their technology team, building a cutting-edge blockchain network to unlock economic growth and social advancement around the world. They are building a native blockchain ecosystem that enables organizations to prove/monetize their sustainable and ethical practices. In this role, you will be working as a contributor to the network by implementing new features and helping drive the performance and usability of our native blockchain.

What you'll bring

  • A degree in computer science (or associated field) and/or other advanced certification along with significant experience
  • 2+ years of professional experience with Scala
  • Experience with Git version control and comfort in working with a distributed team
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to pick up new technologies and paradigms quickly
  • Experience with Agile methodology and test driven development
  • An enthusiasm for the mission of using technology to positively impact that world
  • Strong interest in cross team collaboration and a readiness to help build culture and best practices an fast growing company

Bonus qualifications

  • Prior work experience as part of a blockchain development team
  • Familiarity with additional Scala tools and frameworks such as Akka, http4s, ZIO, or Cats
  • Experience in implementing cryptographic primitives and schemes or DSL design

What you'll do

  • Contribute to the core development of our native blockchain
  • Help implement new features such as chain program engine (smart contract system)
  • Develop and improve testing and documentation with a focus on the reliability and maintainability of the codebase
  • Perform and participate in code reviews
  • Help communicate and implement best practices across the engineering team
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
