The Expertise We're Looking For

  • 2 - 4 years' experience in investment industry; ideally in business strategy, investor segment or product management
  • MBA or CFA progress preferred
  • Strong understanding of investment concepts, asset classes and portfolio construction
  • Structuring and working with large data sets

T he Purpose of Your Role

The Market Research Analyst will play a key role in the market insights & strategy group by gathering data and assisting with the analysis, interpretation and communication of insightful market, competitor and client research in support of new business development, thought leadership and strategic business planning at FIAM. Your primary business partners in this role will be finance, product management, marketing and distribution as your industry research will help frame the FIAM's current and future business results as well as identify the changing needs and preferences of our clients (e.g. investment products, distribution / servicing satisfaction drivers)

  • You enjoy helping distill industry data into insightful business intelligence and answering the question "what does this mean for our business?"
  • Your interpersonal skills and ability to work horizontally and vertically within the organization will serve you well in this role
  • Your colleagues would describe you as having a basic understanding of various industry trends, investor segments and investment approaches which you regularly use to add value to your organization
  • Your developing communication and presentation skills will eventually be essential in this role, particularly your ability to explain complex concepts in a simple, straightforward manner

The Value You Deliver
  • Gathering and synthesizing quantitative/qualitative intelligence and assisting in the preparation of comprehensive research studies on various investor segments; such studies would include market size, growth, structure, key players, barriers to entry, distribution models, competitive advantages/disadvantages
  • Assisting with market demand analysis and competitive positioning for Fidelity Institutional Asset Management's existing investment strategies and participate in discussions that inform the development of new capabilities
  • Helping to evolve and expand proprietary research program (thought leadership) by developing topical surveys for new markets and geographies
