Business Control Associate
Consulting Group, the investment advisory arm of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, serves individual investors as well as larger institutions, providing each with investment consulting advice and services through various managed account programs and platforms. CG Business Control Unit is responsible for the operational risk identification and mitigation, investment oversight as well as various program control support functions across the Advisory platform.
We are seeking a Business Control Associate to join the Consulting Group Business Control team. The Business Control Associate will review Client accounts to identify any potential gaps between the client's investment policy statements and the investment strategies employed by the Financial Advisor. Also, the Business Control Associate will oversee client's account volatility to ensure that these are within the risk band defined by the Risk Tolerance provided by the client's KYC Risk Profile. Responsibilities will include developing quantitative / analytical stats to measure accounts not being compliant, assessing Financial Advisor's practices regarding the initiatives, creating processes and procedure to mitigate identified risks, identifying potential areas for enhancement, and escalating finding to senior management. This role will work regularly with Financial Advisors, Advisory Program Management, Risk, Legal, Operations, Audit, and Compliance.
•Assist the Business Control Unit Investment and Program Oversight Team in their day to day responsibilities around Advisory accounts
•Help communicate initiatives and priorities to field facing support staff via email and phone conversations
•Able to understand and explain Consulting Group Advisory Programs
•Review Investment Policy Statements and set up accounts restriction of oversight
•Review and escalate Advisory account breaches and variances
•Monitor and action accounts that are not aligned with their KYC Risk Profile
•Prepare metrics around the different initiatives handled within the Business Control Unit
•Able to escalate findings and issues to Business Control Unit management
•Interact with different departments to execute tasks
•Assist in the development of metrics capability within the Business Control Unit.
•Ability to find solution to measure and mitigate risks
•Maintain reporting around current daily tasks and initiatives
•Analyze large sets of data and report findings to the team
•Review, update, and maintain policies and procedures
•Ability to take initiative, analyze, summarize, and communicate effectively orally and in writing
•Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
•Some experience with other Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
•SQL and Tableau is a plus
•Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
•Self-starter with problem solving skills
•Basic understanding of Finance concepts is a must.
