RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Duties: Vice President with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, NY. Lead a product controller team that covers an Investing and Lending business. Review daily profit and loss ("P&L") & balance sheet, including the review of the product controller team's reconciliation of the desk's estimated P&L versus actual P&L. Ensure revenue recognition and risk is in accordance with credit agreements, supporting investment documentation and accounting policy standards. Perform independent price verification to ensure that inventory is appropriately valued in accordance with market levels. Review trading activity and servicing events impacting inventory in order to identify risks and highlight significant items to senior management, including but not limited to, preparing periodic profit and loss commentary. Liaise with various groups, including the business, accounting policy, financial reporting, market risk and credit risk teams to ensure proper risk representation in the firm's books and records. Review schedules in support of the firm's external financial reporting to both the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Reserve.
Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance. Will accept single degree or combination of degrees/certifications and/or professional experience that are equivalent to a Bachelor's degree. Seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or a related role. Must have seven (7) years of experience with: Accounting skills, including journal entries and T-accounts; utilizing knowledge of GAAP accounting standards and SEC / Federal Reserve public reporting requirements with regard to 10Q and 10K reporting for broker dealer firms; utilizing understanding of financial control infrastructure and financial control risk assessments related to broker-dealer firms; using various Windows desktop applications, particularly Excel including common formula/analytical tools such as pivot tables, vlookup, filtering, charts; in a leadership capacity, driving process improvements, leading and/or participating in department wide process improvement initiatives; communicating, both verbally and in writing, across a global team to various stakeholders within an investment bank regarding risk mitigation and accounting treatment. Must have four (4) years of experience with: reporting and analysis of financial instruments including fixed income and equity products.
