Portfolio Analytics Group (PAG) within BlackRock Solutions delivers actionable insights to our investment, risk, and client teams by applying data and financial models through Aladdin to influence portfolio decisions, applying our expertise in financial analytics, Aladdin infrastructure, and data modeling techniques. The Active Investing Analytics team's mission is to create higher quality investment processes for BlackRock's Active Fixed Income and Equity businesses by delivering innovative solutions grounded in our expertise of analytics and the Aladdin platform. The team is located globally across New York, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo. Role Description
The team seeks an experienced Applied Analytics specialist who will augment our team's leadership in NY. This is an interdisciplinary role focused on advancing investment outcomes by applying Aladdin's data, analytics, and technology in new and innovative ways. Ideally a candidate will have strong foundational financial analytics skills which they will build upon and achieve a deep understanding of investment processes spanning different asset classes. They will use statistical and modern scripting techniques and work with different data architectures to build insights and analytics solutions. This position also involves working in cross functional teams across BlackRock to oversee and execute projects to advance Aladdin capabilities for our investment teams.
In addition to creativity and innovation in applying quantitative skills, stakeholder engagement, consensus building amongst partner teams and skillful project management will also be key to success. This role has a US focus but is global in scope, has high visibility with BlackRock's Portfolio Management and Citizen Developer communities and provides an excellent opportunity to be a leader in a team with a strong culture for hard work, high performance and teamwork. Responsibilities:
Ensure successful, high-impact delivery of results aligned with the Portfolio Management Group's strategic priorities and PAG's value proposition
Collaborate with software engineering, financial modeling, and portfolio management teams to design and deploy solutions
Leverage technology and modern data science techniques to build custom solutions for investment teams
Create prototypes of new features and analytics for specific problems and then craft strategies to incorporate them in general Aladdin toolset for the rest of the firm
Manage senior relationships with BlackRock's portfolio teams and forge opportunities for new commercial applications of existing data and analytics
Eventually directly manage 2-4 junior associates/analysts to drive the above responsibilities and be an active participant of PAG's leadership group
7-15 years of experience in an analytical role preferably in a technology or financial services setting
Broad knowledge of modern techniques in scripting, experience querying databases and organizing data sets and workflows
Ability to influence and lead multiple partner teams towards a common goal
Creativity in solving non-traditional problems and entrepreneurial drive to learn new skills and technologies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience in financial modeling, analytics, and investment systems used in the asset management industry is preferred
Experience managing relationships with senior stakeholders is preferred
Leadership and experience in managing direct reports is preferred
