About this role

The Official Institutions Group (OIG) partners with central banks, sovereign wealth funds, finance ministries, future generation funds and multi-lateral organizations, offering the gamut of customized solutions and global investment management, risk management and advisory services. OIG is a global team operating principally out of New York, London, and Paris and manages relationships with over 120 clients with AUM of ~$600BN. All the products and services that BlackRock offers are relevant to this client group, including the entire investment platform from cash to the most liquid infrastructure investments, financial advisory, and technology services.

The Official Institutions Group (OIG) is looking for a VP, Institutional Relationship Manager based in New York.

As a member of Official Institutions North America client team, this individual will be required to work well within OIG as well as with partner teams in servicing and delivering the entire firm as a client fiduciary. The primary responsibility will be developing business with sizable, sophisticated international official institutions clients based in the U.S. These clients span across sovereign wealth funds, pension plans and multi-lateral organizations with complex investment and servicing needs. As the leaders of official institutions are often very senior policy makers and/or close associates, the top leadership of the firm takes a special interest in these relationships.

The Role:
  • Manage Relationships with official institutions
  • Drive sales efforts and business development with a select few strategic accounts to expand existing relationships into new parts of BlackRock
  • Communicate effectively with various groups around the firm to provide a cohesive experience for each of these clients
  • Identify and grow new global official institutions client accounts based in the U.S.
  • Lead client projects on behalf of OIG by channeling internal stakeholder networks


Skills Needed:
  • BA/BS degree in related field (Economics, Finance or Accounting, International Relations).
  • Established track record in institutional sales, ideally at buy-side firms, is highly desired
  • 5 - 7 years of experience preferably in the financial services industry in a relationship management role
  • Senior Associates on track to VP promotion will also be considered
  • Ability to navigate complex client relationships; prior experiences of client management of similar size and complexity is highly desired
  • Ability to develop strong collaborative working relationships with key Client Business and operations stakeholders
  • Understanding of capital markets and global affairs
  • Mentor and develop junior Relationship Manager
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to learn fast
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
