The Role Responsibilities
To be responsible for the origination, execution and utilization of Trade Finance transactions within a portfolio of clients of the bank in the Americas
Coordination with global peers related the origination, execution and utilization of global opportunities within the portfolio
Responsible for generating new Trade Finance revenue within the portfolio.
Responsible for keeping compliance and potential for financial crime top and center of any structure, transaction or potential opportunities with clients.
To unearth the non obvious trade finance opportunities/solutions with clients, being able to lead the client and the internal teams to completion and realization of revenue from the transactions closed.
Create opportunities for cross selling with other Transaction Bank products as well as financial markets, corporate finance, lending and any other relevant areas of SCB.
Develop meaningful relationships with relevant stakeholders, including but not limited to clients, relationship managers, trade ops, compliance, legal, etc…
Deliver on specific objectives established through a scorecard, which includes general and specific initiatives.
Understanding of Client Needs and Ownership of strategy
Deep understanding of clients' business, business lines, organization, footprint, buying centers, sales strategy and geographical spread, decision making process and client needs in trade finance (known and unknown to clients)
Establishing and driving a strategy with each client in the covered portfolio in order to achieve set objectives.
Pro-actively lead trade finance opportunities development with the relationship team, and other areas where applicable.
Build full access to trade finance management decision makers through active client calling.
Input into credit approval process.
Lead proposal and pitches to the clients, and any approvals necessary in order to deliver them.
Active lead and ownership on Legal negotiations, understanding the issues and facilitating the negotiations of legal documentation involving all relevant stakeholders.
Pro-actively embed syndications and distribution on origination engaging the relevant internal teams as well as the clients
Promote the SCB brand and exemplify the values of the Group in all undertakings, including adherence to the Group Code of Conduct.
Our Ideal Candidate
Deep knowledge of trade finance products, both flow and structured.
Experience in trade finance deal closing.
Deep knowledge of trade finance structuring elements, including open account, documentary trade (letters of credit), bonds, guarantees and standby letters of credit, confirmed payables, receivables discounting, bills of exchange, import and pre-export financing as well as commodity finance.
Deep knowledge of trade risk mitigants, including different types of collaterals and instruments (guarantees, SBLCs, insurance, risk participations).
Deep knowledge on the impact of different laws on deals: tax, perfection of assignments or collateral, FX regulations that impact trade.
Deep knowledge of industry practice for the assigned portfolio.
Broad banking experience
More than 4 years experience in trade finance.
Proven ability to independently identify, drive and deliver on opportunities
Strong executive impact and track record of new to bank sales success
Structuring trade finance and ability to handle documentation, discussions with Credit, Legal, client and other relevant stakeholders
Strong credit understanding and experience
Seen as an industry expert in Trade Finance
Sector expertise relevant to portfolio (consumer healthcare and retail), preferred
Understanding of how to work effectively within a matrix / network organization, preferred
Ability to proactively identify trade client needs and create solutions to generate new to bank business
Ability to cultivate a network of relationships in the client with key influencers and senior decision makers to identify and close deals
Ability to probe the commercial implications of a client's needs and provide solutions and advice that positively impact the client's operational and financial performance
Sharp commercial focus, consultative engagement style, innovative problem solving approach, and strong achievement orientation
Fluent in a second language, preferable.
