Job Summary

J.P. Morgan is seeking talented candidates for a position as Associate in our Global Payments Product Development team. Our focused group of professionals is composed of top performers from leading payments, fintech, banking, consulting firms, and other internal JPMorgan Chase groups.

The Associate is responsible for working across our business to identify opportunities to drive a Global Payments agenda that reflects our clients' changing needs. This will drive the transformation of Global Payments product capabilities which supports our Wholesale Payments business. The Associate will help set the strategy and priorities for new market capabilities, emerging payment types (including Wallets) and potential strategic opportunities. The role will also make recommendations for new products and services to increase value to JPMC's clients. This role is all about making it happen with a rigorous and laser sharp focus on execution to develop market leading capabilities. This is a high profile role which will require very careful attention to detail (e.g. owning and running product development strategy) while always keeping the mission in mind.

Responsibilities include identifying and accelerating initiatives that increase the rate of product development (e.g. agile transformation), with the purpose of delivering greater value to the franchise. The Associate will work in a cross-business, cross-functional 'project' based environment to accelerate decision making and will have exposure & visibility to senior management. This role is ideal for highly motivated individuals with advanced problem solving and strong interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate will be a highly commercial individual who has a strong business background.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Management
    • Drive Product Development transformation across Global Payments to help drive innovation
    • Simultaneously work on multiple initiatives across Global Payments including payments to external wallets
    • Build effective relationships with key Product, Technology, Operations, Sales and functional leads
    • Gathering, analyzing and synthesizing feedback
    • Developing & syndicating recommendations
    • Redesign existing processes to create capacity so that the business plan is delivered on schedule
    • Report new opportunities and changes with go-forward recommendations
    • Develop metrics and targets to track project progress e.g. Scorecard development
  • Problem Solving & Analysis
    • Execute creative analyses and provide insight to identify issues and arrive at recommendations
    • Ability to break down analyses and issues into their individual components
    • Ability to quickly learn new concepts
    • Ability to keep sight of the overall context and remain centered on answering the 'bigger' question
  • Communications
    • Ability to provide clear and succinct verbal updates on their work
    • Actively contributes to team meetings with colleagues & with stakeholders from other functions
    • PowerPoint skills - able to structure senior management presentations

  • Sales syndication
    • Educate JPMC Sales on payments product capabilities
    • Support Sales functions from a Product perspective, covering off new product capabilities and roadmap
    • Client obsessive, always working to build solutions to meet our clients' needs
  • Research
    • Analysis of external data e.g. ecommerce and alternative payment flows by country
    • Develop competitor intelligence including comparison with JPMC capabilities by product, segment, and geography
    • Leverage external insights to determine areas of investment

  • 2-4 years in a Payments Product, Fintech, Strategy or Consulting role
  • Experience in leading initiatives/projects to resolve diverse challenges, such as experience with a top management consulting firm or in other generalist problem solving environments across financial services sectors
  • An outstanding ability to analyze problems, apply analytical approaches, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written), work well in cross-functional teams
  • A track record demonstrating a high level of personal initiative, setting and achieving challenging goals, and demonstrating entrepreneurial leadership
  • A bias towards action and focusing on delivering the end in mind at all times
