Team Overview:

Commercial Banking's Strategy & Process Improvement (CB S&PI) team is a dedicated internal consulting team with the mandate to launch, design, and incubate critical strategy and business transformation efforts throughout the business, with the ultimate goal of improving Commercial Banking's operating and financial performance. Typical projects are commissioned by senior C-suite executives and leaders throughout CB and focus on the bank's most urgent strategy, process reengineering, and organizational design needs.

S&PI follows ahypothesis-driven, fact-based approach to problem-solving. The ability to solvecritical business problems along with the diversity and backgrounds ofindividuals distinguish S&PI from other areas of the Firm. Typicalproject teams are comprised of 2 to 6 members, most of whom are formermanagement consultants from top consulting firms (McKinsey, BCG, Strategy&,etc.). Projects are usually 4 to 16 weeks long, depending on complexity andscope .

Responsibilities:

Thought Leadership

  • "Own" a complete workstream end-to-end, leading the thinking around problem-solving approach, framework to solve the issue
  • Design, structure, and "own" quantitative and qualitative analyses
  • Identify major issues and actionable opportunities, design solutions, and quantify potential bottom-line financial impact across workstream
  • Synthesize impactful findings, develop recommendations, and write small documents with minor guidance / editing; present recommendations to senior management


Client Leadership

  • Advise and influence client stakeholders on key business decisions and change efforts
  • Plan and effectively lead overall interview campaigns, workshops, and focus groups
  • Delivers chapters of senior client presentations, with ability to recognize and address client motivations and concerns
  • Develops strong trusted advisor relationships with key client stakeholders
Team Leadership

  • Lead one or more workstreams, potentially including managing analysts
  • Develop junior team members informally, including serving as a mentor
  • Creates work plans and manages expectations and quality standards for own work and potentially that of other junior team members


  • MBA or an advanced degree from a top-tier program is preferable
  • 2-4 years consulting experience with a top-tier management consulting firm or an internal consulting / corporate strategy team
  • Strong client management and executive-level communication skills
  • Ability to structure a variety of problems and apply analytical tools to develop solutions
  • Financial services background is preferred, but not mandatory
