About the Position
The Sr. Director will report to the Head of Business Management for TIAA Investments and is responsible for helping oversee and lead business activities including creating and driving the TIAA Investments' distribution, product and marketing strategy. This individual will serve as the intellectual champion and principal subject matter expert for TIAA Investments on the content related to product, marketing and distribution.
The incumbent will manage and coordinate certain areas of the business by building and maintaining relationships with Nuveen and TIAA enterprise distribution, product, and marketing leaders.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Help drive and oversee business activities and the strategic direction for TIAA Investments
  • Participate in the creation, execution and monitoring of key strategic initiatives to ensure the business meets its goals
  • Partner with other areas across Nuveen to manage and coordinate certain business functions
  • Take primary responsibility to build and maintain relationships with Nuveen and TIAA enterprise distribution, product, and marketing leaders
  • Develop and execute TIAA Investments product, marketing and distribution strategy in coordination with Nuveen and TIAA business partners:
    • Partner with marketing and branding teams to establish TIAA Investments brand that builds on our history of successful investment performance while differentiating the firm in the market
    • Drive product distribution strategy and enhancements for all distribution channels, in collaboration with Nuveen distribution partners
    • o Plan strategically on behalf of the product line, with evaluations and proposed adjustments to the offer based on product knowledge, financial, investment, distribution, capacity, legal, marketplace and/or operations considerations
    • o Drive development, refinement and positioning of products' investment philosophy, strategy and process in collaboration with Investment Management, Client Portfolio Management, Product and Marketing teams.
  • Participate in preparing key planning and business management documents for senior management and various boards

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 8-10 years of investment product/business management experience in asset management and/or financial services industry
  • Proven analytical and financial skills, with an emphasis on investment strategies and products.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and build strong relationships with investment teams and business partners (legal, compliance, finance, fund administration, operations, IT, product, marketing, distribution, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and influence within a multifaceted organization.


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • MBA or CFA designation
  • FINRA Series 6 or 7
  • Project management skills
  • Deep experience with fixed income, equity and multi-asset products and strategies
  • Strong understanding of portfolio construction and investment performance attribution/decomposition.
  • Experience with commingled funds, closed-end funds, ETFs, annuities, insurance general account assets and separate accounts
  • Strong working knowledge of SEC, FINRA and IRS regulations and changes
