Sr Business Control Specialist- Risk Manager

Job Description:

The Operations Risk & Control Analyst will be part of a global team in the Global Markets Operations department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Face off with Operations line management and teams and provide risk management oversight and guidance for all risk and control issues
  • Perform an independent assessment of risk issues and control environment in line with the risk framework
  • Work with Operations line management and teams to strengthen the control environment and improve control culture and practices
  • Document, monitor and provide status reporting of operational risk events and risk issues that arise
  • Assist the Operations teams with internal audit and regulatory exam management. Support remediation of any gaps identified through audits
  • Complete the requirements as set out by the Global Risk & Control function in respect of specific risk initiatives and projects
  • Work with Operations teams to improve risk culture awareness across the organization
  • Work closely with other support partners e.g. Compliance, Audit, Operational Risk, Technology on key control issues to develop appropriate processes
  • Foster environment where others share concerns whilst embedding a risk awareness culture

The candidate will require experience of working in an Operations or Middle office environment, Risk, Audit or control experience is also desirable.
  • Knowledgeable in Global Markets products or support functions
  • A detailed understanding of the end to end trade lifecycle
  • Knowledge of key market Regulatory rules and principles
  • Understanding of key controls across a number of processes and/or products
  • Ability to effectively manage operational risks and to suggest control enhancements
  • Analytical and objective problem solver. Able to understand / learn complicated concepts and apply objective analysis to determine root cause and put forward recommendations for remediation
  • Positive and motivated to perform in an diverse environment where the type of work will regularly change
  • Proven track record of improving processes and demonstrating successful teamwork
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with an ability to discuss risk-based conclusions or recommendations with senior management and or product line SMEs.
  • Excellent people /stakeholder management skills at all levels of seniority
