SVP/Sr. Manager - Collateral GPO: Project Execution
The Collateral Global Process Owner ("GPO") is responsible for developing, implementing and owning standards and practices governing collateral processes and ensuring that effective BAU procedures are operative. The GPO has full accountability for transforming the existing collateral control processes across Citi and all types of physical and financial collateral through a combination of program redesign, shared services integration, data/content standardization and technology enhancement/automation. To be successful, the GPO must partner with individuals across Citi's business lines, Global Functions including Operations & Technology as well as other GPOs and those involved with Risk Management Transformation efforts.

Reporting Structure
This individual will join the Collateral GPO and will report to the Collateral GPO Head of Programs.

Responsibilities
The key function of the GPO is the continued strengthening and enforcement of high-quality processes, controls and governance as they relate to Collateral. In order to be successful, this individual will be expected to understand and influence the peer disciplines involved in the Collateral life cycle.
  • This individual must be fluent in Citi's product offerings, mechanics of the markets in which these products are offered (central clearing platforms etc.), Citi's industry landscape, governance expectations and the financial services legal and regulatory environment.
  • This individual must be a highly capable written and verbal communicator, and will be required to obtain, analyze and synthesize information from a number of internal and external sources, each of which may make heavy use of industry jargon.
  • This individual must be able to manage a number of different work streams simultaneously, and is expected to communicate the progress of each in an organized and understandable manner.
  • This individual must be able to manage a number of different constituents and relationship types, including peers from within and those outside of their own team, senior executives, relators, internal and external audit. 
  • This individual must understand and be able to enforce the tenets of a streamlined and effective multi-disciplinary process, which may include the design and initial implementation of such processes.
  • This individual must be able to design, implement, evaluate and amend controls, including those that are not operated by Citi Finance.

The initial 12 months of this role will be partly (50-80%) devoted to a pilot exercise that involves the investigation, documentation and management of collateral issues within a Citi product portfolio. This pilot exercise will involve the use of vendor-developed tools, and the individual will be expected to evaluate the usefulness and applicability of the tools for long-term use.
The pilot period may include the management of temporary/consulting or similar resources.

Qualifications

  1. An undergraduate degree is required.  A MBA is preferred
  2. Ability to quickly analyze a problem.  Previous experience engaging with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Operations and Business partners. 
  3. Deep understanding of regulatory expectations; capital, reporting; resolution planning etc.
  4. Minimum 10 years of proven experience in driving results and an understanding of the financial services industry.
  5. Individual must be analytical, flexible, team-oriented, have good interpersonal and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  6. A self-starter with ability to independently manage work and drive multiple deliverables concurrently.
  7. Excellent communication skills, including writing and presentation. Crisp executive summaries for senior management.
  8. Ability to gain consensus and agreement across many disparate functions, products and geographies.
  9. Must have ability to stay ahead in a constantly changing environment. Must be an agent for change, ensuring others understand current direction.
  10. Understanding of capital markets, institutional banking and operations a must.
  11. Aptitude to translate strategy into execution in a complex and cross-functional organization.
