Senior Institutional Investment Strategist - Head of Graystone Consulting Investment Office

Position Summary:

The Graystone Consulting Investment Office is responsible for providing best-in-class investment advice and solutions for institutional clients. The role will dually report to the Head of Wealth Management Investment Resources as well as the Head of the Consulting Group.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead institutional investment strategist in support of the Graystone Consulting business
  • Interface with institutional clients and prospects and communicate Morgan Stanley market views and investment strategies (tailored to our institutional clients)
  • Lead development of institutionally-focused intellectual capital & original thought leadership
  • Partner with Graystone advisor teams in business development efforts (including finals presentations) as well as ongoing client relationship management (this is a client facing role which will require travel)
  • Support the large-market 401K consulting business through development of thought leadership / collateral as well as advice on investment menu design


Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills Required:
The candidate should have significant (15+ years) investment / asset management related experience & previous experience in a senior role within the investment consulting industry. Additionally, the candidate should bring expertise in the large market 401k space. Ideally the candidate should have a graduate degree (MBA, MS) or other professional designations such as CFA or CAIA. The candidate must be appropriately licensed (Series 7, 63, 65, etc.).

  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a thought leader in the institutional space
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience presenting to small and large audiences and must be comfortable in one-on-one clients meetings
  • Experience with the unique needs of various client types including publics, unions, foundations and endowments, corporates, etc.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills.
  • Detail oriented with an ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities
  • Leadership skills and the ability to work as a team player across all channels and functions.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Anticipated travel (~25%)
