Senior Enterprise Risk Officer - Risk Appetite, Reporting and Analytics
Environment
The RISQ Division's mission is to contribute to the development of the SG Group's activity by facilitating the objectives of the Business Lines while maintaining independent oversight through risk evaluation and monitoring. The RISQ Division in the US supports all the activities in the Americas Region (US, Canada and Latin America), which are almost exclusively SGCIB-oriented.
The risk professional sought for this position will be a member of the Risk Appetite and Reporting (RAR) team being part of the SG US Enterprise Risk Management Team. He or she and will report into the Head of Risk Appetite and Reporting within Enterprise Risk Management.
The Risk Appetite and Reporting team is tasked with core responsibilities as follows:
  • Maintain and oversee the continued maturity of the SGUS/CUSO Risk Appetite Statement and develop, coordinate additional risk appetite statements where appropriate. This entails articulating risks at the enterprise level with effective challenge of 1st and 2nd lines of defense as part of SGUS/CUSO and developing presentations to the CRO and related management/executive committees;
  • Coordinate all aspects related SGUS/CUSO enterprise-level Risk Committees;
  • This encompasses effective challenge at subcommittee level, reviewing and challenging contributions from senior officers (business and risk), defining methodology, standards, tools, and systems, organizing the data collection and articulating material risks for the ERM management team, the CRO, the Enterprise Risk Committee, the US Executive Risk Committee and the Board of Directors' Risk Committee;
  • Support transversal topics such as Regulatory Exams, change-the-bank activities, systems design, and presentations of SGUS risk profile to Senior Management both in the US and at head office level;
  • Coordinate and/or chair FCM (Future Commission Merchant) Committee as well as New Product Committee;
  • Develop processes and liaise with other SGUS teams on shared processes and global initiatives (risk identification, stress testing, governance including systems architecture & requirements).
  • The candidate will need to demonstrate understanding of risk management challenges across several risk types while supporting the implementation of various analyses within ERM.
    He or she will be part of a team of experienced risk officers that articulate key initiatives and deliver risk assessments to senior risk officers.

    Mission
    Day to day responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Committees preparation (Enterprise Risk Committee, US Risk Committee and Group Risk Committee, New Product Committee, etc.)
  • Work with the Risk team, supporting the Chief Risk Officer in assessing and supervising risk functions in the Americas including effective challenge across a wide range of risk types.
  • Liaise with Risk Stripe leadership and business lines for timely and accurate contributions (assessment of Risk Profile, business environment, Risk management effectiveness, emerging risks, etc.) which may include strengthening committee and risk stripe capability
  • Continued maturity and ongoing maintenance of tools/systems to support the enterprise in producing aggregate risk analysis reports
  • Review key risk metrics, including breaches of limits and thresholds, and provide in depth analysis of any material events potentially impacting the firm; consolidate metrics and breaches; contribute to MIS reporting for Senior Management;
  • Provide all the committees documentation and logistics support (agenda, deck, minutes, follow up, ad-hoc analyses)
  • update or document Enterprise Risk guidelines and procedures
  • Support the team in assessing activities submitted to the New Product Committee, Market Access Committee, Algorithm Committee and Living Product Review Committee
  • Interact with the business lines to prepare the different committees and follow-up conditions determined by the risk functions
  • Risk Appetite Statement
  • Ongoing maintenance of the Risk Appetite Statement including renewals (effective challenge, maintenance of metrics/limits, review & alignment to BL's strategy, etc), defining SG's risk appetite across U.S., Canada and Brazil
  • Partner/Collaborate across the bank to strengthen the overall risk assessment and monitoring processes
  • Gain knowledge of the different business lines strategies and activities
  • Define and implement a control framework for the RAS metrics
  • Support continued maturity of the Enterprise/BL Risk Appetite(s), Aggregation, Reporting, Analysis, through partnership with senior leaders across the bank.

  • Knowledge of risk concepts and measurements
  • Understanding of key activities linked to a financial institution operating a large capital markets activity, inclusive of trading portfolios and lending activities in the Americas.
  • Quantitative and technical skills needed for risk reporting and analysis

  • PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required: 5+ years of experience in risk, finance or business line function in a financial services organization with strong capital markets platform;

  • EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree in quantitative/economic field, finance, business management
