Senior Director Corporate Strategy

The Role: Senior Director, Corporate Strategy
The Location: 55 Water Street, New York, NY
The Team: The Senior Director works closely with the SVP of Value Generation and working directly with the senior executive leadership team, the role will lead strategy development for the business.
The Impact: This role will lead strategy development at the Corporate level. This would include:
  • Developing strategy with the CEO and CFO and Operating Committee
  • Coordinating with the strategy heads in the divisions
  • Injecting new ideas and approaches, as applicable
This role also handles complex projects of varying nature: (e.g., outside in analysis, coordinating strategy off-sites, contribute to leadership development programs, preparation of Board and Operating Committee updates)
Reports to SVP Value Generation
  • Reporting into this role: 1-2 shared analysts

  • Lead Corporate strategy development and support SVP Value Generation in executing annual planning process that tightly integrate our strategy, strategic plans, and financial plans
  • Coordination agreement of strategy across the C-suite and the Operating committee
  • Think creatively to refine the strategy - challenge current thinking - with respect
  • Collaborate with strategy heads in the divisions on strategy development - in particular looking for cross divisional opportunities
  • Special projects in support of the CFO and CEO
  • Work closely with the SVP Corporate Development to keep acquisition strategy aligned and cooperate on transformational acquisitions and integration
  • Support CPO on leadership development
  • Take the lead on Strategic Offsites for senior management and assist with the Global Leadership Forum
  • Produce materials for Strategy updates for the Board and Operating Committee
  • Represent the SVP Value Generation with senior management

Basic Qualifications:
  • 10 years plus experience, preferably with some mix of management consulting, corporate strategy and/or investment banking roles preferred
  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA preferred, but not required
  • Highly ambitious and motivated - should be able to run independently with problem solving and team discussions
  • Independently lead discussions with senior leaders
  • Highly analytical and sharp problem solver - should be good with numbers and their business implications
  • Work in matrixed environments; reciprocal, and capable of taking care of ambiguity
  • Creative thinker - continuously able to question status quo and improve
  • Some international experience and exposure, able to work effectively and constructively across cultures and market environments
  • Demonstrates strongest ethical values, committed to the highest personal and professional standards of conduct
  • Strong capability in strategy development, including meaningful analytical tools and methodologies; ability to develop analytically rigorous, commercially sound new business recommendations and articulate clear and compelling business discernments
  • Knowledge of Information services and/or Financial Services a plus
