RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Americas Special Situations Group (AmSSG) is a lending and investing business focused on providing capital to mid-sized companies in both private and public markets. The group specializes in fundamental value analysis and has a number of private capital investment strategies which include middle market direct lending, structured investing, investing in asset intensive industries, portfolios of assets, and distressed credit. Across strategies, the group focuses on leveraging its deep industry knowledge and fundamental credit, distressed, corporate, and asset valuation techniques to create attractive risk adjusted returns. The group focuses on transactions across the U.S., Canada and South America.

AmSSG is currently looking for an experienced analyst or junior associate to join the desk in New York. The analyst/associate will gain in-depth sector and industry knowledge, significant experience in how to value assets and companies, and learn how the investment process works across various investment strategies (including equity, debt and private transactions).

Core responsibilities include:

  • Screening and quantitative model focus during deal underwriting and execution
  • Researching and evaluating sectors and investment ideas
  • Managing and undertaking due diligence processes
  • Monitoring performance of existing portfolio through review of operating reports and ongoing conversations with operating partners
  • Communicating and presenting investment ideas and analyses effectively and credibly to both internal and external audiences

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of Finance or Investment Banking experience
  • Superior valuation, modeling, and Excel skills
  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented candidates with strong accounting, finance, modeling, and problem solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Keen interest in the financial markets and good commercial instincts
  • Spanish or Portuguese language skills
