Production Support Engineer
Our Team Clearing, Markets & Issuer Services Technology (CMIST) is responsible for application development and support for critical business systems including Repo Edge (collateral management), Enterprise Payment Hub (multi-currency payment processing), and Broker Dealer Clearance (securities clearing), along with approximately 350 other applications used by the following high-priority business services and their clients. Issuer Services Technology (IST) within CMIST Issuer Services is comprised of the Corporate Trust and Depositary Receipts businesses, which provide world-class equity and debt servicing. Corporate Trust Technology is responsible for providing development, maintenance, and risk management services for the portfolio of proprietary and third-party applications used to support the $1.3B Corporate Trust (CT) business. Depositary Receipts Technology provides a broad spectrum of intranet-based technology supporting the Depositary Receipts (DR) business division. Key technical support areas are noted below for each business. The Role As a Production Support Engineer, you will have a support role in providing technical support to more complex situations in BNY Mellon's Issuer Services Technology (IST) Responsibilities: Create and maintain support documentation and procedures Respond to, diagnose, and resolve service disruptions Identify, define, and implement required monitoring and automation solutions Conduct root cause analysis for complex production issues Ability to deal with time sensitive issues in support of critical service level agreements (SLAs) Customizing Tools/Synthetics such as AppDynamics, DynaTrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Moogsoft or related solutions. Develop / execute Health checks for App Health Provide technical support for the applications, understanding their data flow and end user interfaces. Perform deep dives into issues and have an ability to diagnose and resolve application and/or escalate to ensure optimal performance. From time to time - there will be a need to support after hours. Work with multiple teams (technology and business teams) while addressing service disruption. Fields calls and respond to alerts. Addresses technical problems by following defined procedures. Monitors applications and respond to incidents. Perform routine health checks and validations after changes or significant incidents. Follows defined procedures for incident resolution. Escalate to second level application or infrastructure support for new or high priority incidents. Identify opportunities to automate manual processes. Contributes to the achievement of team objectives MODIFIED BASED UPON LOCAL REGULATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required 0-3 years of experience in applications support or production environment required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required 0-3 years of experience in applications support or production environment required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus Required: SQL (Oracle), good understanding of applications Basic Scripting and Programming Experience Familiarity with Support Ticket (JIRA), Maintain Data Reports Relational databases knowledge (EGT back-end database is Oracle) Read and Analyze Application Logs Understand the importance of Cyber Securing MS Products (excel, MS word, Power point...etc.) Self-motivated ability to do multi-tasking, where the individual will handle multiple application requests from various sources. Analytic, data driven, and strong debugging skills Strong communication skills, and a positive and pro-active attitude Preferred: Linux/Unix Eagle - knowledge about Eagle is a big plus. Experience with monitoring tools a plus - AppDynamics, Splunk, Dynatrace, Cloud Proper, Grafana, Moogsoft or related solutions. Experience with scripting languages - Perl, Bash, Maven etc. Working knowledge of DevOps tools GIT, JIRA, ServiceNow, Ansible, Kibana, Solarwinds, Experience supporting mission critical platforms, operations, and applications.
