Major global investor with $500bn under management seeking a Principal to help grow newly created Power and Renewables team.



Our client is a major global investor with more than $500bn under management and a very high profile position within the international infrastructure and energy investment community.  Already managing a large portfolio of investments across energy transmission and distribution, water and waste water networks, communications infrastructure, toll roads, airports and ports globally, the business is now looking to build a dedicated Power & Renewables team across Toronto, New York and London, to roll out a multi-$bn capital deployment in this sector.  This global team will be targeting the growing renewables sector and enable the organisation to access the largest and highest quality investments, since the dynamics of the power and renewables industry align closely with their competitive advantages – notably scale, flexibility and long-term horizon. 





Based in New York or Toronto and reporting to a Managing Director, the Principal will play a leadership role in making and managing investments in the Americas, and around the world.  The role will have a significant focus on  evaluating potential greenfield and operating investment opportunities, developing investment recommendations, negotiating terms and executing transactions. S/he will also share responsibility for managing relationships across the US.


  • Deal execution including contract negotiation and structuring of complex cross-border transactions, predominantly in onshore and offshore wind and solar
  • Selection of transaction advisors, the negotiation of service agreements and mandate letters with third party due diligence and advisory services providers, the management of advisors in due diligence investigations
  • Coordinate across P&R team to leverage global corporate relationships across deals. Help organize the deal pipeline management.
  • Provide investment screening support to regional teams (e.g. access to Centre (global) knowledge management on sector information, value creation strategies, portfolio/risk-return thinking including support from non-deal team members (e.g. advisory board, internal experts) 
  • Manage relationships with portfolio companies, external stakeholders and Partners
  • Managing and reviewing internal financial models and financial valuations of projects



  • Strong understanding of the Power and Renewables sector
  • Corporate M&A experience, project management skills
  • Apply investment judgment to deals self-originated or originated regionally
  • Lead team and investment and evaluate investment cases   


The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in the investment space specifically focused on Power and Renewables.
