What's In It For You

IHS Markit is seeking a highly consultative Sales Engineer to join its team. The Sales Engineer plays an integral part in several phases of the sales lifecycle and supports pre-sales productivity and deal flow by securing the "technical close" in complex solutions and assists our Client Success and Deployment teams post close to ensure clients are getting the most value out of our solutions. The Sales Engineer collaborates with sales, client service, engineering, and technical support resources to ensure proposed deals include technical solutions that accurately address client needs and are properly supported by key client decision-makers. This position is client-facing and requires heavy interaction with prospects and clients.

What You'll Work On
  • Work as a trusted advisor - building trust, loyalty and solid long-term relationships with key decision makers at prospects and clients.
  • Work with the Solutions sales team to deliver technical sales support with an emphasis on understanding and addressing client requirements.
  • Engage across the prospect to align the organization around the value of IHS Markit Solutions products.
  • Uncover key components of value for the various prospect stakeholders to drive 'Why' the prospect is interested in IHS Markit's solutions and then demonstrate how the platform solves the prospect's perceived value.
  • Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
  • Develop and conduct client demonstrations.
  • Proactively scope the technical solution required to address customer requirements, assessing customers' needs are met, and recommend solutions that optimize value for the client.
  • Coordinate closely with sales, sales support, and service resources to align the solution design with client's business requirements.
  • Communicate client feedback and new requirements to the product team.
  • Transition a detailed understanding of clients' requirements and goals to Client Deployment Project Management team.
  • Identify the prospect buying behavior and orient our proven sales process for the prospect to drive the prospect toward a decision.
  • Draw resources from across all teams (services, training, support, and product teams) to position the prospect for a successful long-term partnership.

What We Look For
  • 4+ years of experience in a client facing role such as Pre-Sales Engineer, Project Management, or Solutions role.
  • Prior experience selling in the alternative asset / private equity industry preferred
  • Experience presenting technical concepts and/or software to senior level business users.
  • Strong Analytical/Reporting Skills
  • Strong presentation and time management skills
  • Ability to handle objections when challenged in a one on many situation
  • Highly motivated, positive, entrepreneurial, can do attitude, creative, ownership driven, intellectually curious, dynamic, confident, professional and goal-oriented with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint a must
