Lead - Data and Content Governance

Position Description:
S&P Global Ratings is looking for Lead to join the Ratings Operating Office, Data Organization; a team of data professionals who define and execute the strategic data road map for S&P Global Ratings. The ideal candidate is a hands on individual who will lead a small team and understand data management frameworks and best practices, help define and execute the enterprise data strategy, encompassing training, throughout the data and technology teams. This role is also responsible for coordinating with Ratings Technology, In-Business Control, Compliance, and Data Specialists in establishing, maintaining and communicating data standards to the broader organization. Working across S&P Global, the role will also create guidelines for common data dictionaries and data catalogs, as well as develop self-service tools and methods that support data standards. This ideal candidate must be customer focused and able to juggle the priorities of multiple business partners.

  • Oversee the data governance strategy, providing support, facilitating and coordinating data governance activities.
  • Establish and enforce strategy, guidelines and capabilities for defining & governing data including Ratings Data Catalog & lineage
  • Lead the organization's data content governance transformation initiatives
  • Communicate the vision and strategy to all levels of stakeholders in the organization
  • Create and maintain Data Governance framework, process documentation, and data governance policies
  • Document processes using standard tools and procedures and publish these standard processes to ensure universal compliance
  • Work with all content domains to establish road maps toward desired state of data governance maturity
  • Engage, partner with, and guide domain owners, information arhitects, technology product management, In-Business Control, and divisional partners & relevant stakeholders to assure guidelines are applied appropriately
  • Identify and standardize the use and governance of information in support of the overall global business strategy
  • Demonstrate the business value in Data Governance to all levels of the organization
  • Partner with cross divisional Data Governance teams to ensure a consistent, best in class governance framework
  • Produce management reporting/metrics on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the Chief Operating Officer others informed progress
  • Drive utilization of data best practices throughout the organization

Experience & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree is preferred
  • 7 to 10+ years of data governance and data management experience, with 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts
  • Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes and information strategies, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards
  • Experience in defining governance from the creation of content to its distribution for use in internal applications and external products
  • Proven track record influencing diverse sets of stakeholders and driving common outcomes
  • Strong understanding and proven experience in applying data standards across an organization
  • Experience managing Data Governance projects in a Global organization
  • Experience in building and executing a Data Governance standards in an Agile environment
  • Ability to lead organizational and cultural change and drive results in a matrixed environment
  • Proven competence in data transformational projects
  • Familiarity with Cloud technologies or big data technologies
  • Agile (SCRUM) experience preferred
  • Highly accurate and detail-oriented
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Project management skills preferred
  • Ability to work well under pressure; manage tight deadlines and situations where conflicting priorities arise
