This role supports the internal communications Global Functions team, facilitating employee and internal communication within Citi's functional groups and/or from Citi's functional groups to the broader Citi organization.
The Internal Communications Manager will serve as a partner to multiple functions within Citi - although the role will have a tilt toward servicing the Human Resources portfolio. They will find creative and innovative ways to develop, market, write and champion communication strategies. With a strong focus on story-telling and relationship building, the internal communications manager will leverage multiple internal vehicles - from the intranet to e-mail and video - to educate and engage employees throughout the organization. The role requires an adept writer who can flex voice and tone as needed and is comfortable navigating and processing feedback.

Responsibilities:
  • In partnership with the Director of Internal Communications, conceive, develop and market multiple internal communication initiatives.  
  • Cultivate internal relationships and partnerships at all levels of the organization.
  • Prepare reports (metrics, analytics, and communication presentations) for internal use. Present as needed to leadership and other constituent groups.
  • Write and develop content as needed, responding to guidance from the business/function, effectively managing voice and tone, and ensuring content is grammatically correct. Demonstrate a capability to embrace multiple voices/tones as needed.
  • Learn and use Citi's internal technology, including the Content Management System used for loading intranet content and the e-mail system used for releasing internal messages.
  • Invest in and understand the priorities of the business/function partner. Leverage communications to innovate and problem-solve.
  • Participate in a variety of internal projects including regional, global and group-specific meetings in an effort to maintain a "big picture" perspective on the organization.  
  • Participate in the development, execution and monitoring of integrated communications campaigns in support of the strategic business/function objective.
  • Ability to identify emerging trends in web and digital marketing, develop strategies and effectively implement approved strategies. 
  • Define and track metrics to assess effectiveness of communications programs
  • Perform other related duties as required by Global Public Affairs (GPA).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Journalism, Communication, Marketing, Liberal Arts, Public Relations, Advertising, etc.) required
  • At least 5 - 7 years of professional experience, preferably in marketing, advertising, communications, or related field within a global, complex organization
  • Proven experience creating and managing communications strategies and translating those strategies into actionable plans.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proven track record of managing and/or supporting the creative process from start to finish for an array of materials
  • Excellent project and events management skills, including ability to handle multiple assignments prioritizing and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver presentations to large and small groups; solid grasp of grammar, fine-tuned editorial skills
  • Solid track record and knowledge of best practices in online and social media
  • Easily navigates technology; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other desktop publishing tools
