Hedge Fund Technical Analyst

The Alternative Investments Distribution Team of Bank of America Merrill Lynch is seeking an analyst with 2 - 5 years of experience for its Alternative Investments (AI) Technical Specialist Team. The Hedge Fund Technical Analyst role is based in New York City and will interface with members of the AI Technical Specialist Team and other senior AI Distribution professionals. The Technical Analyst will assist the AI Distribution Team in increasing the adoption of alternative investments across the wealth management platform and deepening financial advisors' understanding of hedge fund, private equity, and real asset strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize in-house proprietary models to generate custom portfolio solutions and analytics for client opportunities of $5M or more in new AI assets
  • Responsible for generating various performance and sales reports for AI Distribution Team and senior leadership
  • Prepare marketing presentations for client meetings and advisor events
  • Support strategic initiatives and new fund launch campaigns with the goal of targeting new AI growth opportunities
  • Draft positioning pieces and quarterly updates for hedge fund managers available on the AI platform
  • Gather and summarize market and product specific data for use in advisor and/or client meetings

Required Skills:
  • Bachelors degree (concentration in Finance, Applied Statistics, or Business preferred but not required)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work is paramount
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Deep understanding and/or experience with alternative investments
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Analytical approach to solving complex problems
  • Self- motivated individual who can work collaboratively and independently on multiple projects with tight deadlines is a must
Desired Skills:

  • Series 7 & Series 66, or will have opportunity to become licensed upon employment
  • Interest in investment management, alternative investments, quantitative analytics, and marketing
  • Proficiency in portfolio construction and understanding the importance of alternative investments
