The Location: New York

The Impact: S&P Global is seeking a transformational Head of Employee Communications who can build a world-class global employee communications program. In this role, you will be cultivating a high-performance employee base that is connected, educated and engaged with the Company's strategy, mission, and changing culture. You must be able to build a global employee communications strategy and roadmap, while having a proven track-record of developing and creating a program in a fast-growing, complex, global organization.

As a critical member of the Public Affairs team and reporting to the Chief Communications Officer for S&P Global, you are an agent of change, a strong writer, creative thinker, motivator, and collaborator excited about creating compelling content and two-way conversation among internal audiences. You also possess strong media and external communications skills, as this role will interact and engage with key outside stakeholders as well.

You will question, redesign and improve existing employee communications processes; identify internal and external tools, applications and subscriptions needed to successfully engage with our 21,000 employees globally; align closely with Company executives on strategy; manage and built a global, world-class team; lead by example and consistently exhibit leadership behaviors; and have a keen understanding of best industry practices. You will also look for opportunities to take key internal messaging, externally - engaging with outside influencers and the media to further enhance the S&P Global brand and image.

Responsibilities:
The head of employee communications will identify challenges and issues faced by the organization and work closely with the Public Affairs leadership team, company executives and divisional teams to build a positive, transparent culture and drive two-way communication while ensuring consistency of messages across all internal communication channels, as well as to the outside world.
  • Create a communications plan that drives message consistency and alignment, ensures messages resonate and are impactful, and establish discipline around measurement and reporting outcomes to leadership
  • Strengthen employee engagement and enhance employee understanding of Company's goals, objectives and success metrics
  • Find new and innovative opportunities for employee engagement and identify ways to celebrate milestones throughout the change journey
  • Have an enterprise-wide lens and provide communications support that enables the Company's leaders to be timely and transparent
  • Identify barriers to communications effectiveness and use influence, diplomacy and creative problem solving to resolve them.
  • Act as a strategic communications advisor to executive leadership while working collaboratively with various functions across the organization
  • Partner with business leaders to prepare strategic communications plans, executive communications and documents needed for internal announcements.
  • Lead the budgeting, planning, and staff development for the employee communications team
  • Engage with employee via focus groups and surveys to obtain crucial data needed to drive engagement, decision making and approach
  • Use external data and resources to enhance decision making that leads to stronger insights and strategies
  • Create a self-service module for standard communications needs, as well as service level agreements
  • Partner with the marketing team to enhance visibility, functionality and engagement with our intranet and other content platforms.
  • Organize and oversee town halls while working closely with the events team on execution

Basic Qualifications:
  • At least 7+ years of relevant experience in a communications function (preferably in financial services), whether in-house, for an agency, or in the media, or a combination
  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Communications, Human Resources or related fields
  • Proven experience in developing and executing internal/employee communication plans for change initiatives or business transformation highly advantageous
  • Masterful writing and verbal skills
  • Excellent editing and presentation skills; must be detail-oriented
  • Must be willing to travel (10% - domestic and international)

  • A keen understanding of the media and social media

  • Must be a team player and goal-oriented
  • Ability to operate in a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated competency in strategy and plan development
