Grant Accountant
Our client, a non-for-profit organization is seeking a Grant Accountant in their midtown location.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the Grants Payable sub-ledger and reconcile against Research Operations' operating system (Micro Edge/GIFTS/Smart Simple)
  • Review grant payment requests and submit them for payment
  • Monthly reconciliation of grant expense, refunds and outstanding obligations
  • Perform allocations to the program level and assist in allocations to grants
  • Provide guidance and support to program department staff and training in regards to matters such as financial and budget reporting, coding and financial applications
  • Maintain temporary restricted schedule, which includes interacting with Donor Services, Development & Research teams to ensure seamless data flow of restricted revenues and timely allocation of restricted funds
  • Monthly Analysis of grant funding by program and donor
  • Other special projects assigned by the Accounting Manager
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills, as well as strong inter-personal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) and accounting software (e.g. Microsoft GP, SAP, etc.)
  • Experience with Micro Edge or Smart Simple is a plus
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: proactive, collaborative, and efficient
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external parties to maximize performance, creativity, and results
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail
