Citigroup's Residential Finance group currently employs 24 mortgage finance professionals and is seeking to add a Vice President to its diligence team.

The Residential Finance group participates in various aspects of the U.S. residential mortgage sector, with particular focus on the non-agency market including credit risk transfer deals, seasoned performing, re-performing and non-performing collateral, new origination prime and near prime collateral, HELOC and closed end second mortgages, small balance commercial (SBC) and single family rental (SFR) markets. The business provides credit facilities to finance residential mortgage-backed assets, issues and underwrites securitizations (as principal and agent), provides whole loan advisory and brokerage services to large institutional clients, including the GSEs, and manages the contract finance, due diligence and settlement activities related to whole loan trading (acquisitions and sales). The group works closely with mortgage trading & sales, legal, the investment bank and external deal parties.

Vice President responsibilities include:
  • Work with other members of the team on all aspects of the diligence across all business lines: the whole loan acquisitions, 3rd party underwriting, Citi issuances and the warehouse financing.
  • Analyze current processes for pre- and post- close due diligence and make recommendations for improvements to increase the efficiency.
  • Work closely with IT to establish the internal due diligence database and standard reporting.
  • Work with the third parties and the counterparties on the post- close collateral items for the whole loan acquisitions/sales and issuances and assist in tracking and reporting.
  • Work with the servicer to ensure that post-close title issues are resolved timely on the Citi's issuances.
  • Provide leadership and training to junior members of the securitization team


  • Undergraduate Degree; MBA preferred or commensurate professional experience
  • 5-8 years of minimum residential loan trading and securitization related work
  • Expertise in the mortgage and RMBS, SBC, and SFR markets, including securitization criteria
  • Ability to lead small teams and manage multiple transactions on different timetables, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated problem-solver, detail-oriented, strong work ethic, resourceful and organized
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Superior Microsoft Office skills
  • Series 7 and 63 (latter to be obtained within a specified timeframe from start date)
