Department Profile
Professionals within the Legal and Compliance Division (LCD) provide a wide range of services to our business units. They might help to structure a complex and sensitive cross-border transaction; advise on a new product introduction; develop a training program or defuse an investor dispute. They preserve the firms invaluable reputation for integrity and protect the firm from sanctions with policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements around the world. They also strive to maintain cooperative relationships with governmental policy makers and the regulatory and self-regulatory agencies that govern the firm?s businesses.

Background on the Team
The Global Regulatory Relations Group (Regulatory Relations) provides strategic and centralized management of the supervisory activities of the Firm's regulators and related developments globally, focusing on regulatory reviews and examinations and continuous monitoring activities. Regulatory Relations serves as the central point of contact with key supervisory regulators globally to facilitate open, cooperative and constructive relationships; provides advice and guidance on regulatory interactions and engagement; oversees responses to and commitments made to regulators; and apprises the Board, Senior Management, and relevant governance bodies and stakeholders of these matters and related significant regulatory developments. Regulatory Relations Enterprise Regulatory and Program Management develops and implements the processes by which the Enterprise Regulatory Oversight Committee (EROC) oversees (i) significant regulatory assessments and findings and the Firm's responses thereto, and (ii) tracking of the progress of initiatives related to large-scale programs addressing significant regulatory assessments and findings, and implementation of significant new regulatory requirements (together, Strategic Initiatives). Additionally, within the team, the Regulatory Response Oversight (RRO) function is responsible for oversight, tracking, and reporting to EROC, regarding remediation of regulatory findings.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Support the Regulatory Relations global governance framework and reporting including for Firm enterprise management committees and the Board of Directors and other related regulatory forums, including on key regulatory actions activities and developments, and status of remediation programs
- Develop and maintain relationships across multiple lines of business and support areas and with Morgan Stanley management to independently assess ongoing remediation and proposed responses to regulatory assessments and findings, and including providing guidance on action plans, timelines, and tracking progress, as well as necessary challenge of ongoing remediation
- Enhance the evidence review / quality assurance process for regulatory findings, issues and action plans by analyzing existing process to improve the depth and value-add of the oversight process
- Provide periodic review of and reporting to governance on the status of remediation programs, including meetings with the finding owners and program leads and challenge of the various milestones
- Communicate and coordinate directly with regional Regulatory Relations teams across the globe, including regarding status of exams, findings and reporting
- Produce and prepare agendas and materials for management meetings between the Global Head and regional heads or other Firm staff and regulatory or other external meetings, as appropriate, as well as for similar ad-hoc meetings
- Maintain, review and update organizational documents and administrative matters, such as Regulatory Relations business continuity planning, and policies and procedures
- Maintain and update the Regulatory Relations intranet and SharePoint site of significant matters and knowledge library

This role will require in office attendance 3 days/week.
This role requires that all successful applicants be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment and provide proof of such vaccinations within 3 days of commencement of employment.

Qualifications:

Skills Required:
- Bachelor's Degree required with 7-10 years of related experience
- Experience in a financial services organization and/or a management consulting firm, with regulatory-related project and or governance experience preferred
- Understanding of and familiarity with financial services industry (knowledge of audit, compliance or regulatory processes preferred)
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels of the organization
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Keen attention to detail and desire to take final ownership of content in deliverables
- Strong time management skills and project management skills
- Strong written and oral communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to quickly grasp key concepts, multitask, flexible, able to manage quick demands, change of priorities
- Strong office productivity tools skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint)
- Experience using IBM OpenPages is a plus #LI-DM2
