Quantitative Portfolio Analyst/Associate ("QPA") Job Description:
GSO's Quantitative Portfolio Solutions group is a project based team, which will work directly with GSO's various investment teams to understand the investment process and various portfolio management strategies. The QPA will partner with the Investment Teams in the development of portfolio management reporting and analytics, including predictive models, to enhance portfolio management effectiveness and efficiency. The QPA will review and understand the various data sources available, both proprietary and third-party, and be responsible for recommending additional data sources, analytics and portfolio management tools. The QPA will be expected to coordinate with GSO's Technology Team on the access to and format of all data sources, as well as the building of all reporting and analytical models. In addition to liaising with GSO's Technology Team, the QPA will have an opportunity to partner with members of Blackstone's Data Initiative, which is Blackstone's firm-wide team focused on data science, big data, and advanced analytics.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a quantitative or risk analytics role, working within or alongside a portfolio management team. This position requires working closely with senior leadership as they help enhance the effectiveness of the overall investment management process. Qualifications:
- 2-7 years of relevant experience in portfolio management and / or risk analytics, preferably for a credit manager
- Proficiency in multiple programming and querying languages, including R, Python and SQL
- Comfortable working with, and combining, disparate and diverse data sources
- A strong intuition for analytical methodologies and desire to solve novel technical challenges
- Excellence in balancing multiple projects and efficiently meet goals in a fast-paced environment
- Undergraduate degree required
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team
