Clearing, Markets & Issuer Services Technology (CMIST) is responsible for application development and support for critical business systems including Repo Edge (collateral management), Enterprise Payment Hub (multi-currency payment processing), and Broker Dealer Clearance (securities clearing), along with approximately 350 other applications used by the following high-priority business services and their clients. Clearance and Collateral Technology (CCT) within CMIST builds clearance and collateral management platforms to service BNY Mellon's broker-dealer clients and is the sole provider for Government Securities Clearing Services. Considering the core nature of the business and the dominant market share, high-performance and resiliency are key pillars of the technology architecture. Overview of the role: Data Services team is a shared service team that provides key functional capabilities such as self-service reporting, self-service data analytics, risk analytics, operational reconciliation, and integration of core processes with deployed machine learning models. We are enhancing our team and looking for Senior Front-End Developer to work with us as we transform our Clearance and Collateral Technology (CCT) group into a data driven organization. The Collateral & Clearance Technology group is responsible for building high-performance critical market platforms. The group designs, builds and supports the platform used for US Triparty Repo and Global Collateral Services solutions. This service has 85% of the US Triparty Repo business with $2.7trn of assets globally. This group supports the most critical client-facing services for BNY Mellon. Delivery Model: The team is involved in the delivery of primarily new strategic solutions (green field development) or major augmentations of existing platforms All responsibilities fall within the team to deliver front-to-back solutions We promote and utilize a Lean Agile framework to allow for incremental development of new components and systems - and we apply DevOps principles (DoD, code reviews, test-driven development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment) We deliver solutions following microservices architectural principles The team is focused on client delivery, embracing feedback from our customers at all stages of the process and regular self-review of our operating model Collaboration with other teams and continuous learning are critical to our culture The job holder uses existing and emerging technology platforms to design, develop and document technically detailed applications. S/he writes new complex systems (a grouping of programs involving multiple levels of table dimension and internal sorts that accomplishes a particular new function), designs and codes programs and creates test transactions. S/he also analyzes organizational needs and goals to develop and implement application systems. Provides application software development services or technical support in situations of moderate complexity. May also be responsible for requirements gathering and BRD/SRD preparation. Has thorough knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle. Conducts reviews of the test Plan and test Data. Programming well-designed, testable, efficient code. Analyze, design and develop tests and test-automation suites. Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to satisfy requirements and solutions. Maintain software functionality and currency (technical debt and gain). Actively participate in code reviews. Integrate software components into a fully functional software system. Apply security and privacy principles. Execute full lifecycle software development. Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems. Ensure software is updated with latest features. Participate in deployment process following all change controls. Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement. Active learning engagement. Complete all required mandatory training / policy awareness curricula on time. Use learning tools such as Pluralsight to complete both recommended and aspirational targets set in personal development plans. Demonstrate team work. Leverage existing products/functionality and promote reuse. Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices. Collaborate closely with all the other members of the team to take shared responsibility for the overall efforts that the team has committed to. Collaborate cross-functionally with data engineers, business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions. Utilize local meetups to gain and share knowledge. Compiles documentation written by more senior developers of all procedures used in system. Acts as mentor to junior level engineers. Experience in developing front end, web or mobile software development using one or more of the following JavaScript, HTML, CSS, NodeJS, Angular. Job holder must have thorough knowledge of company's IT infrastructure and daily operations and understand the impact of planned changes. S/he must have knowledge about the functions and features of modern and traditional structured methods for developing applications. Communications and organization skills; team work skills. Contributes to the achievement of related teams' objectives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required. 2-6 years of experience in software development required Tech Stack: Front End: Angular 6, Bootstrap, Angular Material, Selenium Back End (Optional): Java (1.8), Spring, Spring Integration, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud Deployment: Private cloud infrastructure (VMs or containers), Docker, Jenkins, Sonar Code Repository: GitLab Development and Knowledge Base: IntelliJ, JIRA, Confluence Methodology: Scrum & Kanban 3+ years of experience developing in Angular 2+ Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus; Strong people and problem-solving skills Flexible, yet independent team player who is comfortable leaving her/his comfort zones and thinking creatively Inquisitive and analytically minded engineer who can articulate complex technical problems in a concise and clear manner Strong technologist with a preference towards developing her/his technical skills in cloud- and microservices-oriented architectures Ability to communicate technical ideas and express basic concepts in plain English Willingness to continuously improve and learn other frameworks, languages, tools, etc. A team-player attitude, including a willingness to assist team members with ad hoc work as and when required No prior business knowledge is required.
