The FP&A organization plays a critical role as a trusted business partner to business units, supporting all analysis, reporting and planning needs. We produce budgets, short and long range forecasts; create and analyze business metrics and identify cost savings opportunities; deliver economic insight into the relationships between costs and revenues to improve the financial success of the business going forward.  The Trading and Liquidity Strategies (TLS) FP&A team directly supports the Securities Lending, Cash Management and Transition Management businesses.  The role we are hiring for is the lead FP&A role for the Securities Lending business.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead all FP&A activities for the Securities Lending business
    • Lead processes for monthly revenue and expense forecasting, reporting and variance analysis through regular engagement and interaction with the securities lending business
    • Lead the annual planning process.  Be a thought partner for the business to analyze investment in strategic initiatives
    • Create a cohesive story around results and present data in a simple and clear manner. Communicate results to senior management including, on a regular basis, the securities lending management team
    • Continuously look for ways to enhance reporting with forward-looking and insightful information
    • Lead team-wide projects including the creation of a robust financial model to forecast securities lending revenue
    • Participate in FP&A wide projects to deliver insight into the securities lending business
    • Drive improved process and content including continued automation of management reporting
    • Represent finance and contribute fully to the broader commercial debate and business strategy
  • Depending on experience and performance there is scope to rapidly develop in the role and take on broader responsibility including the oversight of other areas of the TLS business such as Transition management and /or the Platform expense base that supports all other BlackRock investment teams
  • The role will allow the individual a significant amount of scope and autonomy to broaden and enhance the analysis currently provided to the TLS business
Skills & Qualifications
  • Primarily an ability to rapidly develop a deep understanding of a complex business and its key drivers including multiple different market dynamics
  • Strong leader with ability to deliver in fast paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple demands
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience presenting to senior business stakeholders
  • Able to work effectively at all levels of an organization and build strong relationships with team members, managers, and senior executives in multiple locations
  • Collaborative, team-oriented individual who can learn from others whilst coaching and mentoring more junior members of the FP&A team
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to develop detailed financial models for budget and forecasting purposes
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and multi-dimensional analytical tool skills.  Proficiency with Hyperion/IBM TM1 a plus
  • Exceptionally strong academics at degree level
