BlackRock currently seeks an Associate to join the FP&A team based in New York. The FP&A team enables BlackRock to achieve its strategic and business goals by delivering intelligence to business partners, developing and communicating effective business plans, implementing strategic resource allocation, and managing overall business performance.


 


 


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop detailed budget and forecast models to drive high quality decision-making and closely monitor firm performance

  • Analyze trends in the business each month and produce detailed reports for senior management highlighting key changes

  • Enhance Quarterly reporting processes with a focus on simplification and improved communication

  • Liaise with counterparts across FP&A and Finance to identify and support trends in expenses, revenues, AUM, flows, client wins / losses, and market outlook / performance

  • Focus on streamlining financial data production so that manual adjustments are loaded to reporting cubes rather than being held offline

  • Proactively look for opportunities to optimize the current reporting structure and develop new approaches to assess the health of the business

  • Develop presentations and detailed financial expense analyses and present to senior management

  • Create a cohesive narrative in communicating results to senior management and present data in a simple and clear manner 

 


Knowledge/Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree, preference for numerical discipline

  • Experience in the financial services sector, including newly qualified accountants

  • Knowledge of accounting policies a plus

  • Track record of strong performance

  • Strong cross-functional experience in finance, accounting, and technology

  • Demonstrable problem-solving, quantitative, and analytical skills; strategic and creative thinking

  • History of effective multi-tasking, expectation setting, escalation of issues, where appropriate

  • Experience with financial markets, working knowledge of the asset management and/or financial services industry, preferred

  • Experience acting as a successful finance business partner

Competencies:


  • Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills

  • Solid proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications; advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs); experience with IBM CognosTM1 or VBA a plus

  • Ability to clearly articulate and present ideas both in written presentations and orally; to senior management as well as outside audiences

  • Exceptional project management skills with attention to detail

  • Experience in working on long-term projects

  • Collegial orientation; relationship-builder who is solutions-oriented

  • Comfortable interacting with all levels of management
