Enterprise Risk Identification and Assessment Officer
The Risk Management ("RISQ") Division's mission is to contribute to the development of the SG Group's activity by facilitating the objectives of the Business Lines while maintaining independent oversight through risk evaluation and monitoring. The RISQ division in the US supports all the activities in the Americas Region (US, Canada and Latin America), which is almost exclusively SGCIB-oriented.
The risk professional sought for this position will be a member of the Risk Identification and Assessment (RIA) team, a small senior level group that is part of the SG US Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team. He or she will report into the Head of Risk Identification and Assessment within Enterprise Risk Management.
The RIA team is primarily responsible for ensuring that all types of risks (e.g., credit, market, liquidity, operational, compliance, strategic, reputational, etc.) are consistently and comprehensively captured across Société Générale in the US. This process is essential to ensure a thorough understanding of risks inherent to Société Générale's businesses and key in ensuring consistency between the business strategy, risk profile and risk appetite.
The RIA team is tasked with core responsibilities as follows: Maintain and continuously improve a periodic bottom-up process designed to capture risks across Société Générale in the US; Coordinate and influence stakeholders within the first and the second lines of defense (senior leaders, business managers, COOs, compliance and risk officers, etc.) to facilitate the identification and identification of risks, provide support and training and lead the cultural change; Develop and enforce common standards and a methodological framework across various risk assessments, including the enterprise risk taxonomy, scoring methodology, GRC platform, etc.; Maintain and refine the inventory of the material risks; Support consistent dialogue with the Senior Management; and Closely cooperate with Senior Management and other ERM functions to ensure that program outcomes are properly accounted for in the risk appetite allocation and calibration, stress testing, scenario design, strategic planning, reporting and monitoring activities Mission Day-to-Day Responsibilities Liaise with and support businesses and risk officers on risk identification and assessment tasks; Track the execution of risk identification and assessment campaigns; identify, track and escalate issues; Provide effective challenge on risk assessment results; Contribute to aggregation of risks and preparation of presentations to senior management; Assist in developing links with related processes, such as stress testing, Risk Appetite Statement (RAS), strategic planning; Assist in maintenance and enhancement of supporting documentation (policies, procedures, methodologies, training materials, etc.). Assist in the development and enhancement of the GRC platform, as it relates to risk identification and assessment Profile Skills: Strong analytical skills; Quantitative skills (statistics, probability, data analytics, ...) are highly appreciated; Excellent written and oral communication skills, effective in building relationships with stakeholders, ability to interact with Senior Management and/or stakeholders; Team player with a positive attitude; Strong problem-solving abilities; Efficiency and ability to achieve results under tight deadlines and high pressure; Quick learner and self-starter with a hands-on approach Prior background: 5+ years in the banking or consulting industry; Familiarity with the corporate and investment banking universe (products, markets, processes); Ideally, with relevant experience in CCAR or stress testing regimes. If not, candidates with previous experience in the enterprise risk management, audit or strategy/finance can also be considered; Exposure to one or more types of risks (credit, operational, market, liquidity, etc) Risk Management: Employees should understand the institution's approach to risk management and their respective roles in supporting a strong risk culture, as outlined in the SGUS Operations Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
