Department Profile
Professionals within Legal and Compliance provide a wide range of services to our business units. They might help to structure a complex and sensitive cross-border transaction; advise on a new product introduction; develop a training program or defuse an investor dispute. They preserve the firm's invaluable reputation for integrity and protect the firm from sanctions with policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements around the world. They also strive to maintain cooperative relationships with governmental policy makers and the regulatory and self-regulatory agencies that govern the firm's businesses


Primary Responsibilities
- Provide primary coverage for employment law issues arising out of Technology Division including advising on legal issues relating to hiring (including offer letters), discipline, termination, reductions-in-force, compensation, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing, overtime, leaves of absence, disability, requests for accommodation, diversity initiatives, workplace safety and workplace violence.
-Manage employment related arbitrations, litigation and administrative matters (EEOC, NYDHR, DOL)
-Prepare and advise on workplace policies and procedures
-Prepare and deliver workplace training
-Assist in preparation of employment related aspects of RFPs
-Assist group management with reporting and other special projects
-Work collaboratively with other lawyers and staff and with other areas of the Firm, including Legal and Compliance, Risk, HR, Corporate Communications and the business units to respond appropriately to issues as the arise

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS
Skills required (essential)
-5-7 years experience advising on employment issues
-Prior in-house and/or financial services experience strongly preferred
-Excellent judgment and interpersonal skills
-Strong oral and written communication skills
-Ability to work independently and manage high-volume case load
