Your role
Are you an experienced compliance professional? We're looking for someone like this to:

– work with Sales, Trading, Quantitative Analysts, and Technology teams to review risks associated with algorithmic trading, providing guidance on pre-trade controls, and algorithm testing and implementation
– support the electronic trading governance framework across the Equities and FRC divisions
– liaise with senior management in Equities and Fixed Income (FRC) divisions and functional leaders in compliance, legal, risk, and IT to provide effective challenge, guidance and advice
– provide subject-matter expertise on rules and regulations pertaining to electronic trading
– perform critical assessment and challenge during the development and implementation of electronic trading systems and algorithmic platforms
– work closely with colleagues in C&ORC to promote best practice and consistency across divisions and asset classes
– support in the design and implementation of the Operational Risk Framework
– draft and review compliance policies and procedures related to electronic trading
– develop and deliver compliance training
– participate in annual and ongoing ET RCSA reviews and ensure focus and challenge is provided around operational risk controls as well as compliance risks
– perform thematic reviews of top ET risks as deemed to be found high inherent/residual risks in RCSA summary
– challenge the 1LOD on the effectiveness of regional controls and processes across SORT events and ORIs
– deep dive into the read-across events and confirm operational risk assessments and remediation plans are in line with the framework
– assess Operational risk governance, policies & standards and ensure that they are being executed effectively across the global ET businesses
– provide communication and training on Electronic Trading Operational Risk, including the use of Operational Risk tools/processes, both to the ET C&ORC team and the 1LOD business teams
– maintain and roll out annual training programs to the C&ORC ET team to ensure the knowledge and understanding of operational risk is syndicated across the global coverage team
– review the Competency Assessment for on-going enhancements
– continue to review and refresh the ET C&ORC ETAC Checklist up-to-date with Operational risk questions
– review and refresh the Electronic trading policies and procedures, and focus particularly on the Intra-day risk framework document
– review intra-day electronic trading MI both in real time via alerting and also on a periodic historical basis, and challenge the business on the content of this MI as required by the Intra-day risk framework document
– report and escalate Operational Risk issues/concerns to the ET Bi-weekly Production meeting and the Risk Committees/Management Committees

Compliance and Operational Risk Control (C&ORC) is an independent function providing oversight of the Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risks within the firm. The UBS C&ORC Compliance team is seeking a talented individual to lead and provide compliance support to the Electronic Trading groups across the Equities and Fixed Income divisions (ICS) of the Investment Bank.

Your expertise
You have:
– bachelor's degree or higher in Business/Accountancy/Finance/Law/Risk or similar field
– 3-5 years of experience in Compliance, Operational Risk or Regulatory Role or equivalent experience in Electronic Trading
– expertise with the regulatory and market structure framework of US and global Electronic Trading systems and Alternative Trading Systems (Regulation SCI expertise a plus)
– knowledge of equities and/or fixed income products and trade flows, with a focus on automated trading systems
– knowledge of compliance, change and operational risk
– excellent written communication skills and competence in portraying complex content in a clear, concise, and compelling manner
– strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to influence senior management and other stakeholders to successfully implement and deliver change
– strong business analysis and problem solving skills. Ability to easily to manipulate and analyze broad range of data
