The Role: S&P Global, the leading independent provider of essential intelligence, is searching for a Director of Finance to support the Market Intelligence and Platts combined revenue/cost of sales reporting team. The Director of Finance will manage all aspects of cost of sales reporting. The Director of Finance will also oversee all non-subscription revenue including Conferences and revenue share agreements. He/she will be providing support for day to day management of financial operations involving cost of sales as well as assisting with special projects related to revenue, cost of sales and annualized contract value (ACV).

The Impact: This position will work alongside the Head of Revenue, ACV, and Royalties to ensure all monthly financial reporting and analysis is delivered timely and accurately to facilitate decision making by management.

The Team / The Business: The S&P Global Market Intelligence & Platts Finance team primarily consists of New York and London based employees. The Team also interacts with divisions of S&P Global Corporate and remote employees.

Your Skills: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA required, MBA is preferred,.strong knowledge of US GAAP and revenue recognition guidance is required, 8-10 years' work experience in public accounting or private accounting/finance department, strong skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint, experience with ERP (Oracle Financials), Zuora,, Tableau, and Cognos TM1 is preferred.

  • Assume primary oversight for recording and analyzing S&P Global Market Intelligence & Platts cost of sales as well as non-subscription revenue.
  • Ensure key balance sheet reconciliations for cost of sales and revenue share agreements are completed accurately and timely. Research and resolve reconciling items.
  • Actively monitor COS expenses on the P&L to ensure information appears accurate and reasonable. Review, analyze and interpret monthly financials for senior management. Provide insightful commentary that will drive decisions.
  • Ensure all SOX controls are working as intended. Respond to requests related to internal/external audits, specifically for channel partner compliance. Actively participate in discussions with external audit firm and prepare management responses to audit findings.
  • Establish cost of sales estimates on a monthly basis and manage the annual budgeting process.
  • Drive consistency in reporting across both divisions
  • Serve as the main point of contact for Channel Management team. Provide recommendations to incentivize various channel partners to grow the business. Ensure accurate payment processing for all channel partners/vendors.
  • Provide finance support to Global Conference Operations (events management business) by managing financial & operational accounting, reporting, forecasting, and analysis
  • Support overall business unit reporting requirements. Develop knowledge and understanding of the financial systems that are critical to the reporting process.
  • Prepare analysis for ad hoc requests and special projects, and provide direct support to the Head of Revenue and ACV.
Other Accountabilities:
  • Provide thorough and accurate responses to senior management and business inquires.
  • Performs ad hoc analyses as requested in order to help management make informed decisions.
  • Alert management to accounting or operational problems and suggest actionable solutions.

  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA required. MBA is preferred.
  • 8-10 years' work experience in public accounting or private accounting/finance department.
  • Prior experience managing and mentoring staff is required.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and revenue recognition guidance is required.
  • Strong skills in MS Excel (Pivot tables, V-Lookups, IF functions, etc.) and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with ERP (Oracle Financials), Zuora,, Tableau, and Cognos TM1 is preferred.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions for resolving operational and financial problems.
  • Demonstrate investigative research and analytical capabilities necessary to leadership team with accurate and insightful interpretation of financial information.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability with an inquisitive mind.
  • Ability to work independently and as a fully contributing member of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
