Director, Product Management
Clients are moving digital and need technology and data solutions that accelerate that transition to digital. Our unique products in the Onboarding, Regulatory and Compliance space solve many of the complex challenges of pre-Trade processes. We are deploying new technologies that are cloud enabled, drive automation, and digitize the end-to-end onboarding process. We have an incredible partnership with our buyside and sell side clients to provide centralized solutions to solve complex data and regulatory challenges for the industry. We do this through a number of technologies built on our industry leading Markit Counterparty Manager (MCPM) platform, which is an online platform for institutional investors and other financial institutions to exchange documentation and regulatory data efficiently in a secure environment.

Through this platform the users are able to:
  • Electronically manage trading accounts on ISDA, FX and MSFTA master agreements
  • Classify trading entities to amend and share ISDA master agreements
  • Simplify FATCA and CRS due diligence compliance
  • Streamline AUM / NAV distribution
  • Centralize KYC and client on boarding process
  • Digitize documents and automate processes through Bots
  • Fully connect to external systems and clients through a single API strategy


The MCPM team is split over 3 locations, London, New York, and Delhi and covers Product Management, Development, Sales, Account Management and Operations.

Position Summary:

We are looking for an experienced technologist that will apply the latest and most cutting-edge technologies available to solve our client's problems. The ideal candidate will be willing to research and experiment on new technologies available from the cloud, open-source technologies, or from 3rd party vendors. The candidate will be a leader in driving change, partnering with the Business/Sales to ideate solution, and work closely with Development to design and specify the technology needed to solve the client challenge. The candidate will have demonstrated experience in business analysis, process modelling, workflow development and communication. The candidate should also possess strong analytical skills to help the team clearly understand the product requirements and deliver thoughtful, timely solutions.

This is an important and dynamic role because it will focus on product and technology strategy, work closely with the Business in designing solutions and often engage clients to think through end-state solutions, and finally will be a leader in building our future state Next Generation Platform on AWS. It is a great opportunity to explore, learn, and drive change working with an energetic team that is 100% focused on building best in class solutions for our clients and leveraging incredible datasets for IHS Markit and S&P Global. There is significant growth opportunity within this role as the business is growing at over 30% and a leader in the role will have the opportunity to take on more product areas and be a leader across our business units.

Duties & Accountabilities
  • Review technology trends, see how they impact your roadmap, and how they drive innovation.
  • Direct communication with your customers, for example when speaking with CIOs and CTOs.
  • Drive technology decisions, understand technical challenges and make educated trade-offs with your team.
  • Identify options for potential solutions, including assessment of technical and business suitability
  • Produce and review detailed business and functional requirement specifications from existing systems, previous drafts, and SME interviews
  • Demonstrate the ability to use a broad range of business analysis skills, methodologies and techniques including Gap Analysis, Feasibility studies, Use case modelling, etc.
  • Utilize analytical tools to develop workflow, cross functional and process flow diagrams
  • Good client facing skills and the ability to work/communicate with clients to develop and interpret business and technical requirements is essential
  • Technical competency to troubleshoot and understand common problems and communicate to team
  • Able to produce structured design documents
  • Able to work with QA and Development Team to ensure implementation meets design and requirements
  • Represent customers by understanding their needs and product requirements - applying technology to solve challenges
  • Foster collaboration with product designers, engineers, quality assurance, and marketing to explore, prioritize, and launch solutions
  • Work with the development team to ensure that product requirements are understood and built accordingly
  • Explore competitors' products and come up with new ways to improve the company's products
  • Translate product's strategy into detailed requirements for prototype construction and final product development
  • Outline the product vision, product strategy, and product roadmap
  • Support engineering team to ensure customer satisfaction goals are met
  • Ensure that user story content and prioritization is aligned to the larger strategic objective
  • Recommend the scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and appraising adjustment


Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree in Business or Technology preferred
  • Thorough understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Prior background as a developer strongly preferred
  • Experience with latest technology trends such as ML, NLP, no-code, cloud technologies
  • Analytical and well organized
  • Expertise in MS Word, Excel, Visio, Project, PowerPoint
  • Experience as a technologist and BA in the financial markets
  • Experience with new software product launch a strong plus
  • A background working with the implementation of US/European regulatory reforms, KYC initiatives, or client onboarding is highly desirable but not critical


Commercial Awareness
  • Experience working in a Bank or Asset manager as a product specialist is a plus
  • Product experience driving technological change


Management Requirements
  • Able to work competently on his/her own or within a team
  • Able to mentor and manage junior staff


Technical Requirements
  • Experience with latest technology trends such as ML, NLP, no-code, cloud technologies etc.
  • Experience with relational databases and querying with SQL
  • Experience with rules engines / workflow applications
  • Experience working on requirements for web services is highly desirable
  • Desire to constantly learn, explore new technologies, and the ability 'to fail and fail fast' then move on to the next challenge
