Database Engineering Lead (Risk, Compliance, Security)

TSG Engineering is focused on providing stable, scalable, and robust infrastructure for the firm while leading the strategy of BNY Mellon's integrated engineering solutions. Our Database Risk, Security and Compliance team is composed of risk minded professionals focused on the protection of the distributed database landscape. Our key areas of focus are database activity logging and monitoring, defining and ensuring compliance to hardening configurations, ensuring compliance to external regulatory bodies, as well as to internal bank policies. The team also interfaces with security partners, such as IAM, to assist in creating firmwide transparency on privileged access to databases. The Role We are seeking a Database Engineering Lead (Risk, Compliance, Security) with a strong database background. You must be technically savvy, have a risk mindset and be able to manage a team. As a team lead, you will be responsible for identifying risk to the database landscape, making decisions resulting in the reduction of risk, manage a team of motivated individuals and ensure the continued success of the firm's database activity monitoring program. Key Responsibilities: Provide leadership and vision to the team with the goal of reducing risk to the distributed database world. Ensure that the firm's database activity logging and monitoring program is successful. Represent the distributed database space against line 1 and line 2 risk teams. Represent the distributed database space against external auditors. Interface with information security teams when necessary. Define and maintain database risk and security standards, policies and procedures and ensure that they are implemented accordingly. Manages a medium to large-sized or multiple small teams responsible for designing and developing solutions to application problems, system administration issues, or infrastrucutre concerns. Directs systems management and integration functions. Defines the methodology of the department and plans management and engineering releases. Develops business plans and implements long range projects. Directs implementation and maintenance activities for multiple computer system software and configurations. Implements, integrates and provides support for middleware software in a multi-tiered, multi-platform environment, dealing with development projects that have a broad impact across the organization. Develops metrics to qualify and quantify success and value to the business. Advises application development leadership in identifying and solving highly-critical middleware issues. Serves as a resource on middleware issues related to policies and standards that impact middleware specialist and application support staffs across the corporation. Develops, maintains, and implements the configuration management plan, procedures, and the execution of all configuration matters. Evaluates new technologies for the company environment and coordinates with technology vendors that span multiple technology and infrastructure areas. Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team. Manages one or more infrastructure operations teams. Contributes to the achievement of team objectives.
