Finance IT in New York is looking for a Data Engineer to assist in building solutions for the Tax area.

The Finance Technology team is a global organization with around 100 employees providing technology solutions to regulatory and legal entity controllers across the regions, working on a combination of regional and global solutions that support the firm's Finance Department in the accounting, regulatory controllership, financial reporting and Tax functions.
The primary focus of the team is on delivery of outstanding solutions to our internal business clients. We encourage every member of the team to learn the business in addition to being outstanding software developers. We value teamwork and collaboration and the ability to work across Global boundaries.
The candidate will be working with the Tax business documenting their business needs and then helping author functional specifications that can be built into systems. Morgan Stanley is constantly being asked to produce new tax reports as well as be able to show auditable proof the numbers giving to tax authorities is correct and attestable. Over the years the systems that currently complete these operations were under documented and have also fallen short of required information. The goal is to understand the tax business, and help the development staff deliver systems that increase the efficiency and reduce the business spend to produce the tax documentation and supporting worksheets. Future state is to help the business analyze the data so they can may decisions that legally reduces the taxes for each jurisdiction. They Key project will be the Global Indirect Tax as well as State and Local Taxes. *L1-FG1


Skills Required:
The candidate must possess a strong background in Data Engineer.

Required Skills
University degree holder in relevant discipline
Strong analytical skills
3-5 years of experience using Python
3-5 years of experience in Data Science
Knowledge of software development life cycle management
Working knowledge of Databases
SQL Knowledge (DB2 / Sybase preferred)
Ability to produce Requirement and Functional Specification documentation
Ability to produce User Stories, Activity Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams and Use Case Diagrams
Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and work on the same to meet business requirements
Ability to work in team

Preferred Skills
Knowledge of Finance and preferably Tax
Technical skills (Scripting languages, or programming languages)
