Data Architect Senior Associate
Data Architects within the CCB DataInfrastructure - CCB Business Modeling Data Domain areresponsible for driving critical cross-functional projects in support ofdesigning, building, and implementing customer-centric data assets for use bythe CCB Business Modeling Center of Excellence and other stakeholders acrossthe firm. The candidate must exhibit a thorough understanding of datastructures, data manipulation, metadata, data security, and data qualitymanagement. In addition, the candidate must have a solid understanding of CCBbusinesses, functions, systems, data environments, and processes that arenecessary for the production and utilization of modeling data.

We are searchingfor a Data Architect who is very enthusiastic about data and buildinghigh-quality data solutions. Thecandidate must have the ability to collaborate with stakeholders and partnersinside and outside of the department to understand their needs and design anddevelop robust data solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations. The ideal candidate will possess JPMinstitutional data and system knowledge, technical skills, an understanding ofdata science, and a commitment to producing high quality results.

Otherresponsibilities will include the following:

  • Collaborate with model developers to understand and prioritizetheir book of work, identify data requirements, ensure source data availabilityin the appropriate data environment and engineer "model ready" datasets
  • Maintain a customer business focus on outcomes, work acrossbusiness and functional boundaries, produce exceptional solutions at scale anddrive the success of peers and stakeholders
  • Participate in ongoing product backlog refinement planning withtechnology partners (may serve as an area product owner) to drive progress ofmodeling data needs spanning the full modeling life-cycle
  • Manage data across multiple platforms and deployment paths,differentiate between legacy and target state platforms, manage and track "techdebt"
  • Contribute to strategic roadmaps for the Business Modeling datadomain that describe a sequence of projects to improve management and utilityof the data for the business
  • Develop data subject matter expertise corresponding to aparticular sub-LOB or business function and be familiar with a broad range ofcross domain data
  • Develop skills and knowledge by learning from fellow team membersand reciprocate by sharing knowledge
  • Adhere to data use and controls requirements, complete and submitnecessary requests for data intake
  • Communicate project status, issues, or escalations with managerand team members
  • Support legacy processes and platforms while driving toward targetstate
  • Enable the management of data as a corporate asset: define data(metadata), identify systems of record and authoritative sources, create dataquality rules, define security requirements, create data flow diagrams, andadminister firm-wide principles, standards, and controls
  • Create conceptual and logical models to describe a particulardomain of data and use these models to inform the physical design ofdata-related projects
  • Identify areas for efficiency across data domains, such as theelimination of duplicate data or platforms
  • Profile, wrangle, and prepare data from diverse sources to supportmodeling efforts in languages such as Python, SAS, Spark, or Scala
  • Conduct business process analysis and identify data needed tosupport the processes and determine whether the firm's data is fit for usewithin a given process
  • Conduct research and development with emerging technologies, determine their applicability to business use cases, document and communicate their recommended use in the firm


Required Skills

  • Strong design, coding, debugging and analytical skills, especially across the big data ecosystem ((e.g. Cloudera Hadoop)
  • Knowledge of other languages such as PySpark, Python, R, Java/Scala including database design and query optimization
  • Excellent command of the SQL language
  • 2 years of experience as a lead or key participant on data infrastructure related efforts
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and big data tools (Spark, Hive, HDFS, etc.)
  • BS or MS in STEM field with quantitative b ackground or equivalent experience/knowledge
  • S trong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and big data tools (Spark, Hive, HDFS, etc.)
  • Advanced analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Deep technical knowledge of data infrastructure practices and tools
  • Knowledge of version control tools and processes (e.g. Subversion, Git)
  • Technical understanding of common RDBMS systems; (e.g. Teradata, Oracle)
  • Hands-on experience with various data modeling techniques and tools
  • Must have ability to deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines and be comfortable manipulating and summarizing large quantities of data
  • Exceptional communication skills, customer focus and necessary expertise in formal and informal testing techniques as well as quality measurement
