Credit Analysis & Research Internships

Location: New York, NY, USA

Credit Analysis & Research Interns will have the opportunity to apply theoretical learning acquired from their academic study, practically in the workplace and to develop skills that will support a future career in financial analytics.

In Moody's Investors Service, you will work in an environment that provides immediate challenges, encourages curiosity and initiative, and gives you the opportunity to get an in-depth insight into the workings of a ratings agency. You will have the opportunity to support Associates and Analysts in the rating process, including formulating ratios, preparing spreadsheets, comparative statistics and working on special projects as and when needed.

In Moody's Analytics' Economics, intern projects will include research and forecasting for state and metropolitan economies, international economies, and city economies globally. The work will also require general spreadsheet analysis, collecting and interpreting data for clients, working with the senior staff on larger research and consulting projects, and contributing to our live commentary website (www.economy.com/dismal).

In Financial Engineering and Quantitative Research, interns will apply their quantitative skills to modeling and computational exercises that help financial institutions around the world accurately monitor and measure the risk of their credit decisions and related business activities.

Successful candidates may be placed in one of the following areas:

Moody's Analytics:
  • Economics & Structured Analytics
  • Quantitative Research
  • Financial Engineering

Moody's Investors Service:
  • Ratings & Research Support
  • Credit Strategy & Standards

  • Working toward a Bachelor's or Master's degree. Majors in Business, Marketing, or Finance preferred, but not required
  • Excellent listening, verbal and English communication skills
  • Proficient in the MS office suite including MS PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Word
  • Positive, self-starter attitude and the drive to exceed expectations at every opportunity
  • Attention to detail and focus on quality of work
  • Have a desire to understand the bigger picture and how your work contributes to it
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.2 or higher
