Sizable investment management firm in New York, seeks Computational Scientist/Researcher to join company's Innovation Lab/Scientific Advisory team collaborating with lead scientist, researchers, partners on early stage and active investments in biotech/life sciences and associated.

Role:

We are looking for a scientist (from either computational chemistry, computational physics, mathematics, biostatistics or related disciplines) with a background in theory and a track record of achievement.

This is a rare and unique opportunity to develop and work with transformative technologies in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.

Relevant areas of experience might include the development of methods for molecular dynamics simulations, such as integrators or efficient approximations of long-range forces, methods for enhanced sampling or free-energy calculations, statistical approaches for analyzing large data sets. Specific knowledge of any of these areas is less critical, however, than strong research skills, and a history of innovation and accomplishment.

Firm is committed to fostering a stimulating, collaborative and rewarding work environment.

Job Responsibilities:

- Conduct research in fundamental mathematics or in application of mathematical techniques to science, management, and other fields.

- Be able to solve problems in various fields using mathematical methods.

- Develop mathematical or statistical models of phenomena to be used for analysis or for computational simulation.

- Perform computations and apply methods of numerical analysis to data.

- Develop computational methods for solving problems that occur in areas of science and engineering or that come from applications in business or industry.

- Actively work with senior members of the firm to apply mathematical theories and techniques to the solution of practical problems in the business.

Requirements:

- A bachelor's degree in chemistry, physics, math, followed by an advanced degree(s) in theoretical chemistry, physics, mathematics; PhD level preferred.

-Strong quantitative/modeling skills.

- Proficiency in Python and/or R, Matlab.

- A team player with strong communication skills and ability to understand and solve problems from multiple perspectives.

- Ability to balance tactical work with pursuing long-term strategic objectives.

- Keen interest in solving complex problems in a challenging industry.

- Well-organized, proactive, and resourceful.

-Able to handle a fast-paced environment and be accountable.
