BlackRock's Compliance Department protects BlackRock’s reputation and understands, challenges and advises on the impact of regulation on our business, with the objective of:
•Actively participating in business decisions to champion our clients’ interests and assist the business to translate Compliance into their daily work;
•Have client interests at the centre of everything we do;
•Cultivate and enhance the compliance culture within BlackRock;
•Provide thought leadership on the impact and implementation of regulation;
•Developing and fostering excellence within the Compliance team.
We currently have an open position within our Global Alternatives Advisory Compliance team. The position is based in New York working with our existing team to support our Americas Alternatives businesses.
The Global Alternatives Advisory Compliance team currently provides support to BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI) teams which operate across a range of products and strategies including Real Assets (Real Estate and Infrastructure (debt and equity)), Private Equity, Hedge Funds, Fund of Funds and Event Driven.
The team provides professional compliance advice and support to the various business divisions across the BAI platform with a focus on:
•Providing advice and guidance to the businesses on their day-to-day activities as well as their strategic initiatives;
•Designing, implementing and maintaining policies, procedures and processes to address key risk areas for BAI;
•Designing and delivering bespoke training to our business partners;
•Designing and enhancing the compliance oversight model for the products covered;
•Participating in cross departmental projects impacting compliance and BAI;
•Monitoring and reviewing legal and regulatory developments.
•Researching, preparing and providing advice on compliance and regulatory matters;
•Assisting on new product initiatives and fund launches;
•Monitoring regulatory developments relevant to the areas of responsibility of the team, researching and preparing summaries of and assessing impact of regulatory and legal developments;
•Assisting in the ongoing review and maintenance of policies, procedures and training;
•Assisting with preparation of all regulatory reporting requirements
•Build Reviewing, managing and escalating as appropriate in relation to oversight programs managed by the team;
•Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with the BAI businesses
•The ideal candidate will have at least 5 to 8 years advisory compliance experience, ideally gained working in real estate, infrastructure, hedge funds, private equity funds or other alternatives businesses;
•Excellent communication skills and a strong personality, combining energy, enthusiasm, resilience, tenacity, diplomacy and above all, sound judgement under pressure;
•Self-motivated and solutions-driven with ability to use initiative and think strategically;
•Ability to articulate complex issues in a clear and concise manner;
•High standard of accuracy and excellent attention to detail;
•Excellent organizational skills - ability to prioritize workloads and adhere to deadlines;
•Ability to collaborate across teams/functions and also work autonomously with minimal supervision.
