Communications Manager
Our Team

Technology Services Group (TSG) plays a pivotal role in achieving BNY Mellon's vision of improving lives through investing and our mission of helping people realize their full potential by leveraging our distinctive expertise to power investment success.

TSG provides the technology infrastructure and core services to support BNY Mellon's technology solutions portfolio globally. This includes data centers and networks, core hosting, middleware and data services, through to our portfolio of end-user services (desktops, collaboration tools, etc.).

The Role

We are seeking a Communications Manager to join our TSG Communications team.

The TSG Communications Team partners with product owners, service owners and project managers to develop end-user communications and marketing plans to drive awareness of the technologies that TSG offers to BNY Mellon employees.

We ensure effective communication within TSG, as well as to our internal customers, to "Tell the Story" of TSG by drafting, editing and publishing communications through various channels. Communications range from "magazine-style" business articles and employee spotlights to end-user communications on technology changes and new product offerings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with internal product managers, subject-matter experts and other technology service stakeholders to create written communications and marketing strategies.
  • Design and publish presentations by translating complex technical information into comprehensible, marketable artifacts and visual graphics catered to various stakeholders, including internal clients, large-scale audiences and executive management.
  • Skilled at refreshing, updating and designing employee intranet sites.
  • Proven ability to develop material for and comfortably interact with wide range of audiences, including internal clients and senior management.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.


Develops written documentation, user guides, help screens and marketing materials for multifaceted and highly complex technology-based products or services. Works with systems analysts, programmers and engineers to write and edit various documented materials. Writes, edits and modifies systems documentation, user manuals, training courses, technical reports, translates technical data into well thought out, comprehensive documents. Works with user and development areas to collect and understand data and policies. Effectively translates highly complex technical procedures into easily comprehensible documentation. Employing excellent project management skills, orchestrates, coordinates large documentation projects to ensure accuracy, consistency, completeness and delivery within the specified project deadline.Provides consultative assistence, working with internal product managers, subject matter experts, and business units to determine the best materials to effectively enhance the user's experience on the most complex products or services. Enlisting top user experience techniques, demonstrates and incorporates empathetic elements into the user documentation in a continual effort to improve and enhance the user's overall learning experience. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives. Bachelor's degree in English or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 8-10 years of experience systems documentation required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

  • Excellent writer and editor who can take complex topics and translate them into engaging, easily digestible communications.
  • Proficient in designing intranet sites and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized; capable of managing multiple projects with lots of moving parts.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Impeccable grammar.
  • Influencing skills; Ability to create support and buy-in across a wide range of stakeholders; create a strong network of relationships among peers, internal partners, external constituencies and decision makers.

Preferred:
  • Event production and management.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills is a plus.
