Transition Management:

The transition management team works with clients to help them restructure their investment portfolios. Clients utilize transition managers when they are changing managers, changing asset allocations and combining plans. BlackRock’s Transition Management (TRIM) team manages more than 300 transitions a year from hubs in London, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo and Hong Kong across equity, fixed income and multi-asset class transitions. The transition management team provides a variety of services to our clients including: detailed analytics and reporting, project planning and management, portfolio and risk management and trading implementation to achieve client objectives.

The transition team has the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients across both our institutional and retail platform, including many of the largest asset owners around the world, public pension plans, corporate pension plans and other institutional investors. The group, consisting of over 55 transition professionals, offers one of the industry's most comprehensive transition management platforms. We partner with clients by understanding their objectives, and designing and implementing solutions that deliver the full power of BlackRock.

Job Purpose/Background:

BlackRock is seeking a senior professional to work within the transition management client strategy group. The client strategy team is responsible for sourcing transition business by partnering with clients and BlackRock’s client coverage and product strategy teams. The team is also responsible for servicing clients during the implementation of transition assignments, working closely with the transition implementation team.

Transition Management is a high trust product where clients provide a significant proportion of their assets to BlackRock and as such the team is directly accountable to the client to maintain the highest standard of care and responsiveness throughout the origination and implementation phases. An ability to embrace the BlackRock culture and to develop and build relationships with colleagues internally is also important.

The ideal candidate will have experience and have demonstrated a strong track record in the following areas:

  • Working in a transition management and/ or business development capacity with institutional investors
  • Development and execution of regional client engagement strategies
  • Sourcing new business and developing client relationships
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders to deliver cutting edge solutions to clients
  • Influencing results of a high performing team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gaining a deep understanding of clients’ organizational objectives and dynamics
  • Creating high quality business proposals and presenting them both individually and as part of a team
  • Originating new client relationships and enhancing revenue
  • Partnering with internal distribution partners to create new business opportunities
  • Creating and maintaining client engagement momentum, leading origination and repeat business generation
  • Providing strategic advice to clients on implementation strategies
  • Managing communication with clients during both the sales and implementation phases
  • Attending and leading client and prospect meetings
  • Working closely and collaboratively with business development colleagues

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years financial industry experience
  • 8+ years of financial markets business development experience
  • Advanced degree in business and/or finance a plus
  • Broad level of general investment & market knowledge
  • Specific product expertise a plus
  • Strong client service attitude
  • Versatile communication skills
  • Team player
