Associate Director, Scrum Master
Department Overview:
The Fitch Group Technology Enablement and Deployment Tribe (TE&D) is a senior engineering organization responsible for tooling and building the modern technology environment for all Fitch Business Units. Split between Chicago, New York, and London the team provides Core Engineering and Service Reliability Engineering to the software development organization, enabling Fitch's software development tribes to build industry-leading products. TE&D builds scalable, forward-thinking, and cost-effective platforms and brings deep partnership and expertise to our peer organizations.

Who we are looking for:
A change agent with a passion for working with people and teams to help them improve and deliver their best work. You will integrate workflows between Core Engineering (CE) and Service Reliability Engineering (SRE) and work with scrum masters in other tribes to raise visibility of work. You are good at, and enjoy looking after the day-to-day welfare of TE&D engineers, and step this up when engineers are subject to escalations and unexpected demands. You will work directly to advise and oversee performance against Agile values, practices, and processes. Working with the other leads, you will support the work of the tribes by maintaining the backlog and facilitating Scrum ceremonies like stand ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives. You will ensure team performance is monitored through various dashboards and help identify continuous improvement opportunities to help the team work better and smarter.

Key responsibilities:
• Facilitate sprint planning, stand ups, retrospectives and other ceremonies for a distributed and highly technical team
• Lead by example and bring out the best in engineering teams
• Maintain an orderly flow of visible work within SRE and CE Centers of Excellence (CoEs_
• Identify patterns in SRE demand and help CE prioritize accordingly
• Ensure work in progress and backlog planning is always accurately represented in JIRA
• Optimize work breakdown classification systems within CoE domains to support efficiency and reporting
• Support infrastructure engineers with useful data points on personal effectiveness and task trends
• Model behaviours to support transformation to continuously improving way of working
• Engage with Agile coaches to help identify & deliver training needs to support Agile practices
• Provide constructive feedback to CoE members to help drive Agile maturity
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities & best practices to progress CoE mission

Requirements:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Finance or Business Management, or equivalent experience
• Agile practitioner capabilities & experience working with or in Agile teams pursing complex engineering work
• A background in Scrum support for DevOps tools engineering, Systems Infrastructure, or Tech Operations teams
• Technical competency in Scrum & Kanban methods; lean process improvement; app. development lifecycle
• Experience in coaching and development of multiple teams
• Ability to think creatively and brainstorm to find solutions for challenges
• A continuous improvement mind-set and dedication to uncovering better ways of working
• Excellent communications and people-interaction skills
• Commitment to organization's new way of working through greater collaboration & breaking down of siloes
• 5+ years of working experience in various Agile methodologies such as Kanban, Scrum, SAFe
• Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) or Certified Product Owner (CSPO)
• In-depth knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and Build Pipeline systems (Jenkins, Bamboo, or similar)
