Associate Director, Core Engineering
Department Overview:
The Fitch Group Technology Enablement and Deployment Tribe (TE&D) is a senior engineering organization responsible for building the modern technology environment and tools for all Fitch Business Units. Split between Chicago, New York, and London the team provides Core Engineering and Service Reliability Engineering to the software development organization, enabling Fitch's software development tribes to build industry-leading products. TE&D builds scalable, forward-thinking, and cost-effective platforms and brings deep partnership and expertise to our peer organizations.

Who we are looking for:
A leader for the Core Engineering (CE) team who brings experience coordinating and coaching teams, as well as deep technical knowledge and expertise in infrastructure automation and engineering. Core Engineering defines and builds the systems for Cloud, OS, Code, and Service build and operations. You will be responsible for ensuring safe adoption of new technology and increasing standardisation of AWS, MS Azure, Kubernetes, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Artifactory and security scanning tools. You will be instrumental in building the technology strategy for system builds and deployment at Fitch. You will manage and prioritise the backlog of Operating System, Cloud Engineering. DevOps tooling, and containerization initiatives. You will also drive organisational maturity in configuration management and unified application performance monitoring. You will coordinate closely with your Tribe Lead to stay aligned on business goals and make sure your squad is progressing and delivering against them. You will build deep engineering expertise within your team, set professional guidelines and develop a skilled network of individuals who can support the mission.

• Develop architecture and roadmap for Core Engineering toolset an automation practice with Tribe Lead
• Partner for delivering core OS-build engineering with Desktop, Operations and Enterprise Service teams
• Lead development of Config Management and Cloud automation tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Chef)
• Lead build-out and standardisation of Pipeline tools and environment (Bitbucket, Bamboo, Artifactory, Sonarqube)
• Provide feedback & coaching to Core Engineering to improve domain knowledge and performance
• Model behaviours to support transformation to continuously improving way of working

Requirements:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Finance or Business Management, or equivalent experience
• Proven track record of delivering results and impact
• Senior-level experience leading, coaching, and developing people and teams
• Technical competency in: AWS services and scaled cloud computing; automation engineering; service telemetry environments; DevOps tooling & deployment pipelines; lean process improvement
• Experience working at scale with: Windows; Linux; Network; Storage; DNS; system config management
• Technical competency in Scrum & Kanban methods; lean process improvement; app. development lifecycle
• In-depth knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and Build Pipeline systems (Jenkins, Bamboo, or similar)
• Ability to think creatively and brainstorm to find solutions for challenges
• A continuous improvement mind-set and dedication to uncovering better ways of working
• Excellent communications, client partnership, and people-interaction skills
• 5+ years of working experience leading an engineering group
