Associate Analyst 2

Location: New York, NY, USA

Role/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Analysts in monitoring and analyzing a portfolio of rated companies in the Insurance and Asset Management sectors. The individual will contribute to the production of rating committee memos and special research. The individual will also conduct ad-hoc projects as needed and devise, construct and maintain databases of information on companies followed by the team.

Key Functions
  • Assist and collaborate with lead analysts to draft and update credit opinions, issuer comments and press releases
  • Assist lead analysts in preparing rating committee memos
    • Gather data, prepare graphs and models and provide first draft analysis
  • Monitor quantitative and qualitative portfolio data
  • Prepare charts, tables and peer comparisons for research and/or presentation materials.
  • Track news wires daily and flag relevant items/developments regarding portfolio issuers or industries.
  • Perform certain administrative certain administrative tasks related to data maintenance and regulatory compliance

Qualifications:
  • Candidate possesses a B.A. / B.S. degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
    • Advanced degrees/certifications such as an MBA, CPA or CFA, or working towards them, is an advantage.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in the insurance industry or experience analyzing the asset management sector is preferred
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to write and present effectively.
  • Highly organized and efficient with the ability to prioritize work in order to meet tight deadlines
  • Previous experience working in a matrix reporting structure
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with SNL and FactSet is advantageous
    • Ability to create pivot tables, utilize vlookup and other advanced excel functions preferred
