Associate - Investment Banking - Maritime

POSITION: The Global Industrials team is actively looking for an experienced Associate to support the Maritime vertical in our New York office.

GROUP DESCRIPTION: Jefferies Global Industrials Group provides a full suite of advisory and capital markets capabilities to clients across a number of sectors, including Aerospace & Defense, Business Services, Capital Goods, Chemicals, Construction and Building Materials, Distribution, Engineering and Electrical, Maritime, Metals & Mining, Paper & Packaging, Transportation & Logistics, and Power, Renewables & Infrastructure. The Global Industrials Group is a team of approximately 140 professionals worldwide based in New York, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Boston, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Hong Kong, London and Toronto.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Significant responsibilities related to pitching as well as executing advisory and capital markets transactions for a broad group of public and private clients based in the U.S. and internationally. These responsibilities will include the following:

  • Lead the execution of M&A as well as equity and debt financings and restructuring transactions
  • Supervise and direct junior bankers in the preparation of pitch books and live deal materials, including offering memoranda, confidential information memoranda, management presentations, lender presentations and prospectuses
  • Direct the preparation of financial and valuation analyses, including discounted cash flow, pro forma merger, precedent transaction and comparable companies analyses
  • Analyze business plans and participate in due diligence sessions
  • Develop client relationships through deal execution and pitching
These responsibilities afford direct and active interaction with the senior executive management teams of our clients.

Qualifications
REQUIRED BACKGROUND:
  • Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university AND 3+ years of Investment Banking or Equity Research experience
  • MBA degree (or equivalent graduate degree) from an accredited college or university AND 1-3 years of Investment Banking or Equity Research experience
  • Financial modeling coursework, training or experience
  • Strong technical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a variety of transactions and projects simultaneously
  • Resourceful self-starter, able to work autonomously and as team player
  • Prior experience within Maritime is desired, but not required
  • Live in New York or willing to relocate to New York
