Associate - Investment Banking - Equity Capital Markets
Group Description: The Jefferies Equity Capital Markets ("ECM") group originates and executes public and private equity offerings, as well as equity-linked financings for our global clients. Our team partners with the firm's investment banking professionals advising corporations, private companies, and financial sponsors globally on equity issuance and other aspects of the equity markets. ECM professionals are organized by sector, product and region. Our ECM team liaises with sales professionals, traders and research analysts in our global equities group. The interaction between these groups provides us with excellent market intelligence, industry knowledge and execution capabilities. Jefferies is consistently ranked as a leading underwriter of equities and is experienced in executing all equity products including IPOs, follow-ons, block trades, private placements and convertible securities.


Position : The ECM team is actively looking for an experienced Associate level individual for our New York office to work with the Permanent Capital Group with a focus on Special Purpose Acquisition Company ("SPAC") offerings.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Pitch and execute SPAC IPOs and capital markets advisory associated with SPAC business combinations, and other related product offering
  • Assist with strategic and financial analysis for preparation of pitch documentation and liaise with relevant investment banking and sales and trading teams
  • Play an active role in the execution of mandated deals through client advisory work, the structuring and negotiation of legal documents and the coordination of distribution
  • Examine the strategic and financial merits of proposed transactions for marketing purposes
  • Help maintain dialogue and relationships with existing SPAC clients through continual marketing and advisory efforts with investment banking and financial sponsor teams, as well as the preparation of instructive materials and thoughtful analyses
  • Attend client meetings across the U.S. with senior bankers
  • Manage a range of non-standard and one-off assignments pertaining to economic, equity market, sector-specific or client-specific topics
  • Work with coverage officers to identify, research and target potential SPAC issuers
  • Manage junior bankers in day-to-day tasks and projects within the SPAC ECM team
  • Assist with the build out of the ECM platforms through recruiting, training and infrastructure development
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other market participants, advisors and the investment community


Qualifications
Required Background:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree (or equivalent); preferred Finance or Accounting related studies
  • Understanding of SPACs and previous experience in a SPAC ECM team is re quired
  • Strong financial and analytical skills essential
  • Rigorous eye for detail
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a number of different workstreams
  • Ability to efficiently teach, train, manage and work with junior team members
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Insightful, reasonable and a self-starter


Desired Experience / Skills:

  • Knowledge of financial modelling preferred
