Assistant Vice President, Data Governance

Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC seeks an Assistant Vice President, Data Governance in New York, New York

Work with Business, Operations, and Technology teams to implement the Data Governance Operating Model and Framework. Track tasks, issues, and projects. Coordinate special projects and the ongoing operations of the program. Generate program status reports. Organize meeting agendas for Data Governance Program committees. Collect meeting notes and follow ups. Oversee the Issues Register and ensure data issues and problems escalated to the Council are centrally documented and managed to resolution, including, where appropriate, on-going monitoring by identified owners. Participate with the Data Domain Working Groups as a representative of the Data Governance Office. Report statistics, trends, and patterns of the adoption of the Data Governance Framework components. Coordinate adoption of defined Program standards and processes and oversee implementation of these standards (e.g. data element definitions, authoritative source identification and lineage, data quality control requirements, data quality monitoring, and physical data location). Develop a change management process and schedule for the maintenance of meta data in the Glossary. Participate in the development, documentation, and implementation of Data Governance policies, guidelines, and standards as needed.

Requires a Master's degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field of study and three (3) years of experience in the position offered or three (3) years of experience as an Associate, Business Analyst or related occupation in data management or regulatory projects. Will accept a Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience in lieu of a Master's degree and three (3) years of experience. Requires three (3) years of experience with: entitlements for data and application access; program/project management including creating and tracking projects in MS Project, tracking key project milestones and due dates, project management dashboard for Project Management Office; software development life cycle (SDLC); data management; data governance; data analytics; statistical analysis of projects; Excel; BI reporting tools including Tableau; SQL or Python, or R; liaising with Technology and Business stakeholders; maintaining stakeholder meeting notes; and data analytics portal design and architecture including search technology, creating processes, and wire frame designs.
